Our prediction for this Belgium Pro League match:
Elindus Arena will host Sunday’s football match between Waregem and Gent, the two teams who are eyeing a place in the Europa League playoffs. Waregem aim to bounce back from a 4-2 loss to Mechelen, but they will have a mountain to climb on the last day of the regular season. Even though Francky Dury’s troops are on a three-match winning run at home ground, home win should not be considered as Gent impressed in a 4-0 win over Charleroi.
De Buffalo’s face a must-win situation against Waregem, and we predict that they will take advantage of the home team’s shaky defence. Both Kums and Ngadeu-Ngadjui are back from suspension for the visitors, which is yet another reason why we are tempted to put our money on Ivan de Witte’s charges. In the first half of the season Waregem defeated Gent 3-0, meaning that the visitors are hungry for revenge.
Highlighted Player (Saido Berahino):
Saido Berahino was born on 4 August, 1993 in Bujumbura, the capital of Burundi. He began his senior career at West Bromwich Albion at age 17, but in the 2011/2012 he was sent on loan to Northampton Town. After ending his loan spells with Brentford and Peterborough United in 2012, the right-footed attacker returned to the Hawthorns.
Berahino impressed in the 2014/2015 Premier League campaign, with the English striker scoring 14 goals in 38 appearances for the team. At the end of the season he was on the verge of joining Tottenham Hotspur, but he eventually stayed at the Hawthorns.
Berahino has yet to make his England debut, but he scored ten goals in 11 appearances for England U21 team. It is well known that Berahino is a Manchester United fan. In 2015 he founded his own charity foundation which helps disadvantaged people in Great Britain improve the quality of their lives.
Highlighted Team (Gent):
Gent are a Belgian football club that plays their home games at Ghelamco Arena. The venue has been the club’s home ground since 2013 and the capacity of the stadium is 20 000. De Buffalo’s participate in the Belgian Pro League and they clinched their first domestic trophy in the 2014/2015 season.
Gent finished the regular part of the season in second place in the standings, but they eventually climbed to the top position in the table in the play-off. The club won their third Belgian Cup trophy in 2010 and it has to be noted that they defeated Club Brugge in the Belgian Super Cup in 2015. Laurent Depoitre scored the winner for Gent three minutes before the final whistle.
A number of top-class players were part of the team in the past and the likes of Victor Fernandez, Johan Boskamp, Bob Peeters, Trond Sollied and Michel Preud’homme are some of notable footballers who played for Gent in the past.
