After failing to impress in the 2022/2023 Bundesliga campaign, Hertha Berlin will look to give fans some cheer when they kick off the new 2. Bundesliga season with a game against Fortuna Dusseldorf at Merkur Spiel-Arena. The capital club are determined to secure a quick return to the German top flight, but they face a difficult task in the season opener.
The club chiefs have signed the likes of Toni Leistner, Jeremy Dudziak, Smail Prevljak, Fabian Reese, and Marius Gersbeck in the summer transfer window, while Stevan Jovetic, Krzysztof Piatek, Omar Alderete, Jessic Ngankam, Santiago Ascacibar, and Maximilian Mittelstadt are no longer part of the team. The hosts, on the other hand, were producing fine showings in pre-season friendlies and we predict that they will take advantage of the current situation in Hertha’s dressing room. Defender Tim Oberdorf misses the season opener through illness.

Schwolow’s impressive goalkeeping exploits got his name written in the notebook of some of Europe’s biggest clubs and it is fair to say we could see his move abroad in foreseeable future. Alexander Schwolow represented Germany in U18, U19 and U20 categories but has yet to earn a senior cap.
