Koln and Leipzig, the two teams with entirely different ambitions in the 2021/2022 Bundesliga campaign, face each other at RheinEnergieStadion on Saturday evening. Koln’s main goal is to secure yet another top flight survival, while Leipzig are eyeing yet another participation in the Champions League. The good news for the visitors is that key midfielder Dani Olmo is back to contention, but the likes of Saracchi, Halstenberg, Raebiger, and Novoa remain in the recovery room.
Anyhow, the visitors will give 100% to recover from a heart-breaking 4-1 loss to Bayern Munchen. The Billy Goats, on the other hand, head into the match following a 1-1 draw with Freiburg. Koln defeated Leipzig in their last meeting at RheinEnergieStadion, but we are tempted to put our money on the Red Bulls this time out as Jesse Marsch can finally count on key players for the Bundesliga game. Florian Kainz is banned for the hosts.
Highlighted Player (Jonas Hector):
Jonas Hector is a product of Koln’s youth school. The left back was born on 27 May, 1990 in Saarbrucken and he began his youth career at SV Auersmacher. In 2010 he joined FC Koln and he made 63 league appearances for the reserve team between 2010 and 2013. Ever since he made his debut for the senior team on 27 August, 2012 he has been playing regularly for the Billy Goats and he certainly helped the team return to Bundesliga at the end of the 2013/2014 campaign.
Jonas Hector made his Germany debut on 14 November, 2014 in a 4-0 win over Gibraltar. The left-footed defender scored his first goal for the German national team on 29 March, 2016 in a 4-1 victory over Italy in Munich.
Hector represented his homeland at the 2016 European Championship finals in France and he scored the winner from the penalty spot in the quarter-final against Italy. Hector is capable of playing as a midfielder as well.

Leipzig are a professional football club founded in 2009. Die Bullen (The Bulls) were unbeaten in the 2012/2013 Regionalliga Nordost and, as a result, they secured promotion to the 3. Liga. After finishing the 2013/2014 as 3rd. Liga campaign in second place in the standings, Leipzig were promoted to the 2. Bundesliga and they competed in the German second tier for two seasons.
Despite suffering a loss to Karlsruher on the last day of the 2015/2016 round in the 2. Bundesliga campaign, die Bullen secured promotion to the Bundesliga for the first time ever. Leipzig play their home games at Red Bull Arena (42,959) and it has to be noted that the stadium was opened in 1954.
Die Bullen wear white shirts and red shorts while their away kit is blue and yellow.
