Our prediction for this Championship match:
Oakwell will host Saturday’s football game between Barnsley and Millwall. The Tykes did well to make it to the Championship playoffs last season, but they have been struggling to find their best form in the new campaign. Since Barnsley failed to impress in a 3-1 loss to Forest on Wednesday evening, we are not tempted to put our money on the hosts. The Lions, on the other hand, recorded a hard-fought 1-0 win over Millwall in midweek to climb to 14th place in the standings.
The capital club aim to move closer to the playoffs berth, and they should take advantage of Barnsley’s shaky defence. Fit-again midfielder Jed Wallace should return to Millwall’s starting XI after scoring the winner against Bristol City. In their last meeting in the Championship Barnsley defeated Millwall 2-1, meaning that the Tykes are hungry for revenge.
Highlighted Player (Patrick Schmidt):
Patrick Schmidt is an Austria international who plays for Championship club Barnsley as a forward. Born in Eisenstadt, Austria on July 22, 1998 Schmidt began his senior career at Admira Wacker. After making 46 appearances for Admira Wacker II, the 179-cm tall striker started playing for the first-team in the 2016/2017 Austrian Bundesliga season.
Three years later Patrick Schmidt decided to take a step forward in his football career as he signed a four-year deal with Barnsley. The full-of-pace forward scored eight goals in the 2018/2019 season for Admira and he is widely expected to shine with the Tykes in the 2019/2020 Championship campaign. It has to be noted that Schmidt played for Austria U16, U17, U18 and U19 teams.
The Barnsley attacker currently represents Austria U21 team in international matches. His main position is centre-forward, but he is used as both left and right winger as well.
Highlighted Team (Millwall):
Based in Bermonsdey, South East London, Millwall are a football club whose supporters have often been associated with hooliganism. West Ham United are considered the club’s biggest rivals and there have always been fireworks in clashes between the two teams.
The Lions share rivalry with Charlton as well and the two teams first met back in 1921. The Den is Milwall’s home ground at the capacity of the stadium, which was opened in 1993, is 20.146.
The capital club did well to make it to the 2003/2004 FA Cup final, but Premier League giants Manchester United proved to be a big catch for the Lions. The Red Devils won the game 3-0, but despite suffering the heavy loss in the title game, Milwall booked their place in the UEFA Cup. However, Ferencvaros of Hungary proved to be a big catch for the English outfit in the two-legged tie.
Australia international Tim Cahill is considered one of the most notable footballers who whore Millwall shirt (1998-2004).
