Our prediction for this Championship match:
Bloomfield Road will host Saturday’s Championship game between Blackpool and Bristol City, the two teams who are almost level on points in the standings. Following back-to-back wins over Hull City and Millwall, the Seasiders did well to hold league leaders Fulham to a draw, and it is no wonder the bookies see them as slim favourites to beat Bristol City. Even though all Garbutt, Maxwell, Carey, Husband, Anderson, Ward, and Virtue have been struggling with injuries of late, home win should be considered.
The Robins, on the other hand, have been struggling at the back of late, with the team conceding 12 goals in total in the previous four league fixtures. Bristol City are not regarded as good travelers, and we do not believe that they are capable of spoiling Blackpool’s party at Bloomfield Road. All Andy King, Rob Atkinson, Matty James, and George Tanner are injured for the visiting side.
Highlighted Player (Richard Keogh):
Richard Keogh is an English player, who has a deal with Derby County. The 188-cm-tall defender started his senior career in 2004 as he signed for Stoke City, but he was immediately sent on loan to Vikingur. After making nine appearances for the Icelandic club, he joined Bristol City in 2005.
Keogh made his Bristol City debut on 3 September, 2005 in a goalless draw with Colchester United. The Derby County defender then spent several seasons on loan at Wycombe, Huddersfield, Carlisle and Cheltenham before signing a permanent deal with Carlisle. Richard Keogh signed a three-year deal with Coventry City and he made 46 appearances for the club in the 2010/2011 Championship campaign.
Keogh played 45 games for Coventry in the 2011/2012 season and on July 2012 he joined Derby County. The defender made 178 appearances for the Rams until the 2016/2017 Championship campaign and he netted one goal for the iPro Stadium outfit. Keogh made his Republic of Ireland debut on 6 February, 2013 in a friendly game against Poland.
Highlighted Team (Bristol City):
Bristol City are one of the two famous clubs from the city of Bristol. Formed in 1894 the Robins mostly participated in English lower leagues and they have never played in the Premier League. Bristol City’s bitterest rivals are Bristol Rovers and it has to be noted that two teams first met in 1897. Bristol City have outplayed their local rivals on 43 occasions in the Bristol Derby.
Cardiff City are regarded as Bristol City’s bitter rivals as well. The Robins play their home games at Ashton Gate, the stadium that was opened in 1887. Bristol City were semi-finalists of the League Cup two times (1970/1971, 1988/1989), with the team making it to the FA Cup final in 1909.
The Robins faced Manchester United in the title game, but they failed to upset the English giants in the Crystal Palace clash. It is well known that Bristol City footballers wear red shirts and blue shorts.
