Our prediction for this Championship match:
Bristol City will be aiming to recover from a 2-0 loss to WBA when they take on Leicester City in the Championship round 39 curtain-raiser. The Robins have suffered four defeats in the previous five league matches, with little to play for in the season finale. All Sam Bell, Rob Atkinson, and Ayman Benarous are sidelined with injuries, while Matty James should be fit for Friday’s game.
The Foxes, on the other hand, aim to recover from the FA Cup loss to Chelsea. Leicester City have a chance to overtake Leeds United in top position and we predict that they are going to take advantage of the current atmosphere in Bristol City’s dressing room. As for the away side, Callum Doyle is banned for the match, while all Jamie Vardy, Ricardo Pereira, and Dennis Praet are major doubts and the trio will be assessed ahead of the kick-off.
Highlighted Player (Jamie Vardy):
Spending his early career playing no-league football, Jamie Vardy made the headlines when he joined Leicester City in a £1 million deal in 2012, but little did he know that he would go on to become a genuine Premier League star just three years later.
The experienced forward helped the Foxes gain promotion to the elite division and then score more than 20 goals as they mounted an unlikely title bid, earning worldwide acclaim as well as a place in the England squad. Vardy went on to score his first two goals for the Three Lions in March 2016 friendlies, with his back-heel goal against Germany in Berlin seeing him instantly become a fans’ favourite.
Over the years, Vardy has earned a reputation as a striker who never gives up and can be a real menace for opposition defenders, but his excellent goalscoring record and good link-up play are enough to suggest he can be described as a mix of old-style pacey forwards and modern strikers.
Highlighted Team (Bristol City):
Bristol City are one of the two famous clubs from the city of Bristol. Formed in 1894 the Robins mostly participated in English lower leagues and they have never played in the Premier League. Bristol City’s bitterest rivals are Bristol Rovers and it has to be noted that two teams first met in 1897. Bristol City have outplayed their local rivals on 43 occasions in the Bristol Derby.
Cardiff City are regarded as Bristol City’s bitter rivals as well. The Robins play their home games at Ashton Gate, the stadium that was opened in 1887. Bristol City were semi-finalists of the League Cup two times (1970/1971, 1988/1989), with the team making it to the FA Cup final in 1909.
The Robins faced Manchester United in the title game, but they failed to upset the English giants in the Crystal Palace clash. It is well known that Bristol City footballers wear red shirts and blue shorts.
