Our prediction for this Championship match:
MKM Stadium will host Saturday’s Championship game between Hull City and Sheffield Wednesday, the two teams who were beaten by Norwich City and Southampton on Matchday 1. The Tigers disappointed their fans in midweek as well, with the team losing to Doncaster at home in the EFL Cup round 1 and, no doubt, they are low on confidence ahead of the visit of Wednesday. Fit-again forward Vaughin Covil is pushing for a start, while midfielder Greg Docherty misses out with a knee injury.
The Owls, meanwhile, survived Stockport County in their EFL Cup opener and given Hull’s difficulties at the back, we believe that punters from all around the globe can find value in betting on the promotion-chasing visitors. As for the away side, Callum Paterson returns to the starting line-up as well as Josh Windass after the duo was rested in the midweek victory. Ciaran Brennan remains in the recovery room.
Highlighted Player (Reece James):
Reece James is a talented Chelsea defender who plays for Wigan Athletic on loan. Born in Redbridge, England on December 8, 1999, James started his youth career at Chelsea football academy at the age of 6. The talented teenager played for England U18 and U19 teams and he currently represents the U20 team on the international stage.
Reece James scored 3 goals in 45 appearances for Wigan in the 2018/2019 Championship campaign, but that did not help the Latics avoid relegation to the League One. His numbers from the 2018/2019 season are impressive as he completed 91 successful tackles, 54 blocks, 44 successful dribbles and 93 clearances.
James, on the other hand, has yet to find the net for the England U20 national team. His main position is right back, but he is capable of playing as both centre-back and defensive midfielder as well. Reece James turned professional in March 2017.
Highlighted Team (Hull City):
Hull City are a professional football club that was founded back in 1904. The Tigers used to play their home games at Boothferry Park, but they moved to the KC Stadium in 2002. The stadium capacity is 24,450.
Hull impressed in the 2015/2016 Championship campaign and, as a result, they returned to the English Premier League. Hull City fans consider Leeds United their main rivals, but Sheffield United are regarded as Hull’s fierce rivals as well. Steve Bruce took over the reins at the club in 2012 and the experienced tactician helped the team book a place in the 2013/2014 FA Cup final, but Arsenal proved to be a big catch for the Tigers in the title decider.
Hull City finished the 2013/2014 Premier League campaign in 16th place in the standings to achieve their highest ever top flight finish. It has to be noted that Curtis Davies was named the team’s player of the year in the 2013/2014 season.
