Our prediction for this Championship match:
Leicester City and Cardiff City will lock horns at King Power Stadium in a highly-anticipated Championship game. The Foxes aim to keep their 100% record in the 2023/2024 season intact, but the Bluebirds should not be written off just yet. Both Jamie Vardy and Wilfried Ndidi are pushing for recalls to the starting XI, while goalkeeper Mads Hermansen is a major doubt. Defender Conor Coady has yet to overcome a foot injury.
The Welsh outfit, on the other hand, aim to recover from a 2-1 loss to QPR, but given their difficulties at the back, we predict that the promotion-chasing hosts are going to pick up all three points from the match. You should bear in mind that Cardiff have conceded six goals in total in the previous three games in all competitions. As for their injury list, goalkeeper Ryal Allsop faces race against the clock to be fit for the Leicester City showdown.
Highlighted Player (Jamie Vardy):
Spending his early career playing no-league football, Jamie Vardy made the headlines when he joined Leicester City in a £1 million deal in 2012, but little did he know that he would go on to become a genuine Premier League star just three years later.
The experienced forward helped the Foxes gain promotion to the elite division and then score more than 20 goals as they mounted an unlikely title bid, earning worldwide acclaim as well as a place in the England squad. Vardy went on to score his first two goals for the Three Lions in March 2016 friendlies, with his back-heel goal against Germany in Berlin seeing him instantly become a fans’ favourite.
Over the years, Vardy has earned a reputation as a striker who never gives up and can be a real menace for opposition defenders, but his excellent goalscoring record and good link-up play are enough to suggest he can be described as a mix of old-style pacey forwards and modern strikers.
Highlighted Team (Cardiff):
Cardiff City are a Welsh football club that compete in the English second tier (Championship). In 2009 they moved from Ninian Park to Cardiff City Stadium, the venue that officially holds 33,280 spectators.
The Bluebirds played their first ever Premier League match on 18 August, 2013, but they were beaten by West Ham United (0-2) on their debut in the English top flight. However, a week later Fraizer Campbell (two goals) and Aron Gunnarson helped Cardiff City record their first ever win in the Premier League.
The Bluebirds outplayed Manchester City back then, but they eventually dropped to the Championship at the end of the season. Fellow Welsh outfit Swansea City are considered Cardiff’s fiercest rivals and the two teams take on each other in the South Wales derby.
The colour of Cardiff City’s home kit is blue, whilst they wear red shirts and shorts when playing on the travels.
