Our prediction for this Championship match:
Saturday’s football game at Kenilworth Road pits together Luton Town and Birmingham City. The Hatters are eyeing their third win of the season, as they have defeated the likes of Peterborough United and Barnsley in the process. Luton looked solid at the back in the midweek triumph, and they are likely to rely on their defence in Saturday’s game as well. Midfielder Jordan Clark remains in the recovery room, while defender Dan Potts is closing in on a return.
The Blues, on the other hand, failed to find the net in the previous two league fixtures. Considering that Birmingham City have been struggling in front of goal of late, a low-scoring affair is on the cards at Kenilworth Road. Goalkeeper Neil Etheridge, who has been tested positive for coronavirus, remains on the sidelines for the visiting team.
Highlighted Player (Simon Sluga):
Simon Sluga is a Croatian goalkeeper who plays for Luton Town in the Championship. Born in Porec on March 17, 1993, the 191-cm-tall shot-stopper started his youth career at hometown club Jadran Porec before joining famous Croatian club Rijeka.
After spending two years on loan Juventus Primavera and Verona Primavera, Simon Sluga signed a professional contract with Rijeka in 2013. It has to be noted that he played for the likes of Pomorac, Lokomotiva Zagreb and Spezia on loan as well before moving to England. The Luton Town goalkeeper represented Croatia U17, U18, U19, U20 and U21 teams in international matches and he made his senior team debut on June 11, 2019 in a friendly against Tunisia.
The Vatreni were beaten by the African side 2-1 in Varazdin, with Simon Sluga playing a full 90 minutes for Zlatko Dalic’s team. His contract with Luton Town should expire on June 30, 2022.
Highlighted Team (Birmingham City):
Birmingham City are a club located in the city of Birmingham, England. Birmingham City were founded in 1875 as Small Heath Alliance, but the club’s named was changed to Small Heath in 1888. 17 years later they became Birmingham and in 1943 they finally changed their name to Birmingham City.
The Blues welcome their rivals at St. Andrew’s, the stadium that was opened in 1906. Birmingham City compete in the Championship and their fiercest rivals are WBA and Aston Villa. The Blues made it to the FA Cup final twice, but they have yet to win the prestigious trophy. In 1931 they were beaten by their local rivals WBA in the title game (1-2), whilst in 1956 they were outplayed by Manchester City in the title game.
The colour of Birmingham’s home kit is blue with white stripe. Trevor Francis, Gil Merrick, Bob Latchford, Jeff Hall, Alex Govan, Joe Bradford and Christophe Dugarry are notable footballers who played for the St. Andrew’s outfit in the past.
