Our prediction for this Championship match:
This prediction will be released soonAll eyes will be on Riverside Stadium when Middlesbrough and Burnley face each other in the Championship derby. The Boro have been scoring goals for fun of late, with the team netting 15 goals in total in the previous five league fixtures, but they head into Friday’s clash following a 4-2 loss to Huddersfield. Matt Clarke is the only absentee in the home team, with fellow defender Dael Fry pushing for a start.
The Clarets, on the other hand, head into the game following a goalless draw with Sunderland. The league leaders are on the right track to secure automatic promotion, but beating Middlesbrough on the road is easier said than done. The Boro have already recorded 11 wins at home this term, and seeing that Burnley are with one foot in the Premier League, home win should be considered. Friday’s clash comes too early for Jay Rodriguez, while Michael Obafemi is pushing for a spot in the starting XI. .
Highlighted Player (Duncan Watmore):
Duncan Watmore is an English footballer who started his youth career at the famous Manchester United football academy. The 175-cm-tall winger then joined Altrincham at the age of 16 and he continued playing for the lower-league club at senior level.
After scoring 15 goals in 48 appearances for the club in the league, Watmore moved to Sunderland in 2013, but it has to be noted that he played for the likes of Clitheroe and Curzon Ashton on loan as well during his spell with Altrincham.
During the 2014/2015 season he played 9 games for the Scottish Premier League club Hibernian, but he returned to Sunderland at the end of the campaign. Duncan Watmore has 13 caps for the England U21 team, but he has yet to make his debut with the senior team. His main position is winger, but he is capable of producing fine performances as centre-forward as well.
Highlighted Team (Burnley):
Burnley were one of the founding members of the Football League back in 1888. The Clarets did remarkably well to win the FA Cup trophy back in 1914 and the club owners have been trying to bring glory days back to Turf Moor ever since.
Burnley defeated Liverpool in the 1913/1914 FA Cup final and, no doubt, this is regarded as the greatest achievement in the club’s history. The Clarets finished the 2015/2016 Championship campaign in top position in the standings and, as a result, they will participate in the English Premier League in the 2016/2017 season.
Burnley play their home games at Turf Moor and the capacity of the stadium is 21,401. The Clarets have won two Community Shield trophies so far, in 1960 and 1973, but they have yet to clinch the Premier League title. Claret is the dominant colour of the team’s home shirts.
