Our prediction for this Championship match:
Millwall will be aiming to bounce back from a 3-2 loss to Queens Park Rangers when they take on Middlesbrough in the Championship round 38. The Lions have been having their ups and downs of late, and, as a result, they have slim chances of securing a top-six finish. Considering that Millwall are 12 points behind the playoffs berth, this has to go down as a must-win game for the hosts.
The Boro, on the other hand, head into the match following back-to-back wins over Stoke (3-0) and Preston (2-0). Middlesbrough are eager to book their place in the playoffs, and given Millwall’s shaky defence, we believe that punters can find value in betting on the visiting team. The likes of Kieftenbeld, Leonard, Mahoney, Fletcher and Smith should all miss out for the hosts, while Browne and Dijksteel remain sidelined through injuries for the visitors.
Highlighted Player (Jiri Skalak ):
After starting his professional career at Sparta Prague, Jiri Skalak played for the likes of Ruzemberok, Slovacko, Zbrojovka Brno and Mlada Boleslav on loan. In the summer of 2015 the Czech player signed a permanent deal with Mlada Boleslav where he established himself as a first-team regular.
However, the pacey winger did spend too much time at the Czech club as he joined English side Brighton in the winter of 2016. Jiri Skalak signed for the Seagulls for an undisclosed fee and it has to be noted that he score his first goal for the club in a 4-0 win over QPR on April 19, 2016. After spending two seasons at the Falmer Stadium, Jiri Skalak moved to fellow English club Millwall on August 2, 2018.
Born in Pardubice (Czechoslovakia) on March 12, 1992, Skalak represents Czech Republic on the international stage. The Millwall winger has 21 caps for the Czech Republic U21 team and he received his first call-up for the senior team on August 25, 2015 for the Euro 2016 qualifying matches against Latvia and Kazakhstan.
Highlighted Team (Middlesbrough):
Middlesbrough is a professional football club that have been balancing between the top two divisions of England’s league system in the modern history. Boro have been playing their home games at the Riverside Stadium since 1995 and their shirt colour is red. The capacity of the Riverside Stadium is 34,742. Middlesbrough impressed in the 2015/2016 Championship campaign and they did really well to secure promotion to the English top flight. Newcastle United and Sunderland are regarded as the club’s main rivals, but there is a rivalry with Leeds United as well.
Middlesbrough made it to the FA Cup final in 1997, but Chelsea proved to be a big catch for the Boro in the title game (0-2). However, the Riverside Stadium outfit did remarkably well to win the League Cup trophy in 2004, with the team beating Bolton Wanderers in the final. George Boateng, Stewart Downing, Juninho Paulista, Gareth Southgate, Jonathan Woodgate, Yakubu Aiyegbeni, Tuncay Sanli and Hamilton Ricard are the star footballers who left their mark at Middlesbrough.
