Our prediction for this Championship match:
All eyes will be on Carrow Road when Norwich City and Brentford face each other in the Championship derby. The Canaries are on a five-game winning run in the league ahead of the midweek clash, with Teemu Pukki scoring seven goals in total in the previous five league fixtures. Todd Cantwell is rated doubtful for the game, while Marco Stiepermann, Sam Byram, and Michael McGovern remain in the recovery room.
The Bees were on a three-game losing run in February, but they head into Wednesday’s clash following back-to-back wins over Sheffield Wednesday (2-0) and Stoke City (2-1). Since the capital club will go for a win in the Carrow Road showdown as well, we are tempted to put our money on both teams to score. All Shandon Baptiste, Pontus Jansson, and Rico Henry are all out of contention with injuries for the visiting team.
Highlighted Player (Grant Hanley):
Grant Hanley is Scottish footballer who plays for Norwich City as defender. Hanley was born in Dumfries, Scotland, on November 20, 1991 and he started his youth career at Queen of the South. After ending his spells with Crewe Alexandra and Rangers, the Scottish player joined English club Blackburn Rovers, where he started his senior career.
After scoring eight goals in 183 appearances for the Riversiders in league matches, he moved to fellow English club Newcastle United in July, 2016 for an undisclosed fee. Grant Hanley, though, made no more than 10 appearances for Newcastle United in the Championship before joining Norwich City. The 191-cm-tall defender made his full international debut for Scotland against Wales on in May, 2011.
He scored his first goal for the Scotland national football team in a 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Wales. His contract with Norwich City should expire on June 30, 2021.
Highlighted Team (Brentford):
Based in London, Brentford compete in the Championship and they were founded in 1898. Griffin Park has been the home ground of the club since 1904 and the capacity of the venue is 12,300.
The Bees have yet to play in the Premier League and it has to be noted that they made it to the FA Cup sixth round on four occasions (1937/1938, 1945/1946,1948/1949, 1988/1989). Brentford played in the League Cup round 4 in the 1982/1983 and 2010/2011 season and that is the club’s biggest success in the competition.
Brentford’s main rivals are Fulham and Queens Park Rangers and they take on each other in the West London Derby. The rivalry with the Cottagers is probably the biggest and you should bear in mind that the clashes between the two teams have their history of crowd violence. The colour of Brentford’s shirts is red and white and they wear black shorts.
