Fratton Park will host a highly-anticipated Championship game between Portsmouth and Swansea City, the two teams with entirely different ambitions for the remainder of the season. The Pompey’s main goal is to secure the Championship survival, but their displays in back-to-back losses to Watford and Bristol City are not giving fans a reason for optimism ahead of upcoming festive fixtures. Portsmouth’s injury list remains pretty long and includes the likes of Blair, Bowat, O’Mahony, Poole, Shaughnessy, Williams and Yengi.
The South Wales outfit, on the other hand, aim to build on back-to-back wins over Queens Park Rangers and Luton Town. Swansea City have a chance to move closer to the playoffs berth and we predict that they will take advantage of Portsmouth’s poor form. Goncalo Franco is unlikely to feature in Wednesday’s clash after having “four teeth rearranged” in the triumph over Luton.

During Milan Mandaric’s era at the club, Portsmouth played an important role in the Premier League, with the team finishing their debut season (2003/2004) in the 13th position in the standings. The club impressed in the 2008/2009 season, with Nwankwo Kanu’s goal helping them beat Cardiff City in the FA Cup final.
