Our prediction for this Championship match:
Rotherham United play host to Coventry City at their Aesseal New York Stadium on day 13 of the new Championship campaign. The Millers do not seem to be at their sharpest, with the team collecting only two points in total from the last six league matches, but the midweek clash could be the turning point for Matt Taylor’s men. Fred Onyendinma should recover in time to face the Sky Blues, but all Tyler Blackett, Cameron Humphreys, Sean Morrison, Jamie Lindsay, and Shane Ferguson remain on the sidelines with injuries.
The visitors, on the other hand, aim to recover from a 1-0 loss to Bristol City and it seems as if they will not have a better chance than this to return to winning ways. Coventry are more of a team than Rotherham and even though all Liam Kelly, Fabio Tavares, Kasey Palmer, and Callum OHare remain in the treatment room, we are tempted to put our money on the visiting team.
Highlighted Player (Simon Moore):
Simon Moore is an English goalkeeper who plays for Sheffield United in the Championship. Moore began his career at Brading Town and, after playing 49 games in the league for the club, he moved to Farnborough in 2008. However, due to the lack of first-team football, Simon Moore left the club at the end of the season, with the 191-cm-tall shoot-stopper signing a contract with Brentford.
The English goalkeeper, who was born in Sandown on May 19, 1990, made his debut for the Bees in May, 2010 against Hartlepool United, coming as a substitute for first-choice goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny. After ending his loan spell with Basingstoke Town in January 2011, he moved to Cardiff City and it has to be noted that he made 17 appearances for the Welsh outfit.
In the summer of 2016 he signed a deal with Sheffield United for a fee of around £500,000 and he did remarkably well to keep 17 clean sheets in the 2016/2017 League One campaign. The Blades finished the season in top position in the standings and, no doubt, Simon Moore’s brilliant saves helped the club secure promotion to the English second tier.
Highlighted Team (Rotherham):
Rotherham United are an English club that compete in the Championship. Rotherham United are located in Rotherham, South Yorkshire and they play their home games at New York Stadium and the capacity of the venue is 12,021.
The club was founded in 1925 as a merger between Rotherham County and Rotherham Town. The colour of Rotherham’s home kit was originally yellow and black, but nowadays they were red and white jerseys. The Millers made it to the FA Cup fifth round on two occasions (1952/1953, 1967/1968) and they have yet to play in the Premier League.
Rotherham United have won the Football League One twice (1950/1951, 1980/1981), but the club’s biggest success is participation in the 1960/1961 League Cup final. Sheffield United are regarded as Rotherham United’s fiercest rivals, but the likes of Sheffield Wednesday and Doncaster could be considered Rotherham’s big rivals as well.
