Our prediction for this Championship match:
Aesseal New York Stadium will host Tuesday’s Championship game between Rotherham United and Preston. The Millers aim to recover from a 2-0 loss to Birmingham City, with the team eyeing their eighth home win of the process. All Domingos Quina, Grant Hall, Sean Morrison, and Ben Wiles remain on the sidelines with injuries, while both Conor Washington and Jamie Lindsay are pushing for a start.
The Lilywhites, on the other hand, aim to keep their playoffs hopes alive, and seeing that they will go for a win as well, we believe that there is a big value in betting on both teams to score. Ched Evans is pushing for a recall to the starting XI, whereas both Andrew Hughes and Emil Riis Jakobsen remain in the recovery room. In their last meeting at the venue Rotherham defeated Preston 2-1, which is yet another reason why this betting option should be considered.
Highlighted Player (Conor Washington):
Conor Washington is a Northern Ireland international who began his senior career at St Ives Town. He scored 52 goals in 50 appearances for the club and in 2012 he joined Newport County. He was struggling to adapt to the new surroundings and, as a result, he netted no more than 5 goals in 39 appearances for the Rodney Parade outfit.
In 2014 he signed a deal with Peterborough United and two years later he moved to Queens Park Rangers. He played just ten games for the Hoops in the 2015/2016 Championship campaign and he failed to open his goal-scoring account. Conor Washington is a striker who made his Northern Ireland debut on 24 March, 2016 and four days later his scored his first ever goal for the national team, in a 1-0 win over Slovenia at Windsor Park.
The Northern Ireland footballer was eligible to play for Scotland through his mother. He was born in Chantham, Kent, England on 18 May, 1992.
Highlighted Team (Preston):
Preston North End or Preston were founded in 1880. The Lilywhites or the Invincibles play their home games at Deepdale, the stadium that was built in 1875 and opened three years later.
In 1889 Preston won their first FA Cup trophy and they did well to beat Huddersfield Town in the final of the 1938 FA Cup final. However, the club’s biggest success came in 1889 and 1890 when they won back-to-back domestic trophies (First Division).
Preston have yet to win the League Cup title, but they were runners-up in 1888, 1922, 1937, 1954, 1964. Preston’s main rivals are Blackpool and the two teams square off against each other in the West Lancashire derby. In their first ever meeting in the West Lancashire derby (1901) Preston recorded a 4-1 win over Blackpool.
Burnley and Blackburn Rovers are considered Preston’s big rivals as well. The colour of Preston’s shirts is white and they wear dark blue shorts.
