Our prediction for this Championship match:
Legendary Hillsborough stadium will host Tuesday’s football game between Sheffield Wednesday and Blackburn Rovers. The Owls aim to put an end to their three-game winless run in the Championship, and we are positive that they will go all guns blazing at the Riversiders. Since they are seven points behind the safe zone, this has to go down as a must-win game for the hosts. Keep in mind, though, that all Dawson, Dunkley, Iorfa, Luongo, and Odubajo are out of contention with injuries.
Blackburn Rovers, on the other hand, are stuck in the middle of the standings, and seeing that they head into the match with the lack of motivation, we are tempted to put our money on the relegation-threatened hosts. It has to be noted that Ayala, Dack, Rankin-Costello, and Wharton are unlikely to feature for the visitors as they have been struggling with injuries.
Highlighted Player (Josh Windass):
Born in Hull, England on January 9, 1994, John Windass is a professional footballer who plays for Wigan Athletic. Windass is a product of Huddersfield Town youth academy, but he did not play for the Terriers at senior level.
The 175-cm-tall midfielder began his senior career at Accrington Stanley and after scoring 22 goals in 77 appearances in the league for the club, he moved to Glasgow Rangers in the summer of 2016. Two years later Josh Windass joined Wigan Athletic and he has been playing for the DW Stadium outfit ever since. He scored his first Championship goal on September 18, 2018 in a 2-1 win over Hull City.
His main position is attacking midfield, but he is used as both central midfielder and second striker as well. It has to be noted that Josh is the son of former footballer Dean Windass, who played for the likes of Hull City, Middlesbrough, Sheffield United and Bradford City during his professional career.
Highlighted Team (Blackburn Rovers):
Blackburn Rovers have been trying to return to the Premier League ever since they dropped to the Championship in 2012. The Riversiders compete in the English second tier and they play their home games at Ewood Park. Blackburn were founded back in 1875 and they are one of the founding members of the Football League (1888).
Burnley are considered Blackburn’s main rivals and the two teams square off against each other in the East Lancashire derby. It has to be noted that Blackburn Burnley 7-1 in their first ever meeting in the East Lancashire Derby on 3 November, 1888. The Riversiders have won three First Division (Premier League) trophies (1911/1912, 1913/1914, 1994/1995).
Blackburn Rovers have clinched six FA Cup titles as well. Speaking of the club’s European success, the Riversiders won the UEFA Intertoto Cup in 2007. The colour of Blackburn’s home kit is blue and white.
