Our prediction for this Championship match:
Sheffield Wednesday will be aiming to put an end to their four-game losing run when they face Rotherham United at Hillsborough. The Owls have been struggling at the back of late, with the team slipping down the standings week by week. Sheffield Wednesday are eager to get back on course on Wednesday, and they will not have a better chance than this to do so. Keep in mind, though, that all Massimo Luongo, Joost van Aken, Moses Odubajo, Dominic Iorfa, Andre Green, and Keiren Westwood are all out of contention with injuries.
The Millers, on the other hand, are on a five-match losing run in the Championship, and given their difficulties in front of goal, we are tempted to put our money on the Owls. Michael Ihiekwe is banned for the visitors, while Clark Robertson, Chiedozie Ogbene, Joe Mattock, Jamie Lindsay, and Richard Wood are all out of contention through injuries.
Highlighted Player (Simon Moore):
Simon Moore is an English goalkeeper who plays for Sheffield United in the Championship. Moore began his career at Brading Town and, after playing 49 games in the league for the club, he moved to Farnborough in 2008. However, due to the lack of first-team football, Simon Moore left the club at the end of the season, with the 191-cm-tall shoot-stopper signing a contract with Brentford.
The English goalkeeper, who was born in Sandown on May 19, 1990, made his debut for the Bees in May, 2010 against Hartlepool United, coming as a substitute for first-choice goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny. After ending his loan spell with Basingstoke Town in January 2011, he moved to Cardiff City and it has to be noted that he made 17 appearances for the Welsh outfit.
In the summer of 2016 he signed a deal with Sheffield United for a fee of around £500,000 and he did remarkably well to keep 17 clean sheets in the 2016/2017 League One campaign. The Blades finished the season in top position in the standings and, no doubt, Simon Moore’s brilliant saves helped the club secure promotion to the English second tier.
Highlighted Team (Rotherham):
Rotherham United are an English club that compete in the Championship. Rotherham United are located in Rotherham, South Yorkshire and they play their home games at New York Stadium and the capacity of the venue is 12,021.
The club was founded in 1925 as a merger between Rotherham County and Rotherham Town. The colour of Rotherham’s home kit was originally yellow and black, but nowadays they were red and white jerseys. The Millers made it to the FA Cup fifth round on two occasions (1952/1953, 1967/1968) and they have yet to play in the Premier League.
Rotherham United have won the Football League One twice (1950/1951, 1980/1981), but the club’s biggest success is participation in the 1960/1961 League Cup final. Sheffield United are regarded as Rotherham United’s fiercest rivals, but the likes of Sheffield Wednesday and Doncaster could be considered Rotherham’s big rivals as well.
