Our prediction for this Championship match:
Newcomers Sunderland will look to impress on their return to the Championship when they welcome Coventry City to their Stadium of Light in the season opener. The Black Cats secured promotion to the English second tier thanks to a 2-0 win over Wycombe, but they will surely find it hard to secure the Championship survival. The club chiefs did well to keep hold of top scorer from last season Ross Stewart, and we predict that the 25-year-old is going to prove a handful for the opposition back-line.
The Sky Blues, on the other hand, enjoyed a very successful pre-season, with the team beating all Leamington, Nottingham Forest, Oxford United, Walsall, and Portsmouth in warm-up games. Coventry City are more of a team than Sunderland, and even though the Black Cats are tough to beat at home, away win should be considered. New signing Kasey Palmer is likely to make his Coventry official debut on Sunday.
