Our prediction for this Championship match:
Wigan Athletic and Blackburn Rovers face each other at DW Stadium in a postponed Championship game. The Latics suffered a dip in form, with the team losing to both Hull (1-2) and Cardiff (1-3) in the previous two league fixtures, and they face yet another difficult task against the Riversiders. Nathan Broadhead is pushing for a start, with Charlie Wyke likely to drop to the bench, with Curtis Tilt and Tom Naylor eyeing recalls as well.
Blackburn, on the other hand, continue to rely on Chile international Ben Brereton Diaz, who scored a brace in a 3-0 crushing of Rotherham. Even though the Riversiders are not regarded as good travellers, we predict that they will take advantage of Wigan’s shaky defence. Jan Dahl Tomasson is unlikely to make changes to the team that outplayed the Millers at the weekend.
Highlighted Player (Jason Kerr):
Jason Kerr is a professional footballer who plays for St Johnstone as a defender. Born in Edinburgh, Scotland, on February 6, 1997, Jason Kerr is a product of the St Johnstone football academy. He started his senior career in 2014, and after ending his loan spells with East Fife and Queen of the South, he returned to the McDiarmid Park outfit in 2018.
He made his debut with the Saints in the Scottish Cup game against Albion Rovers on January 29, 2019. Jason Kerr has six caps with the Scotland U21 team, but he has yet to receive a call-up for the senior team.
He scored his first goal for St Johnstone in a 4-1 defeat to Rangers on February 27, 2018. His primary position on the field is a centre-back, but he is capable of producing good displays as a central midfielder as well. His preferred foot is right, and he wears the number 15 shirt at St Johnstone.
Highlighted Team (Blackburn Rovers):
Blackburn Rovers have been trying to return to the Premier League ever since they dropped to the Championship in 2012. The Riversiders compete in the English second tier and they play their home games at Ewood Park. Blackburn were founded back in 1875 and they are one of the founding members of the Football League (1888).
Burnley are considered Blackburn’s main rivals and the two teams square off against each other in the East Lancashire derby. It has to be noted that Blackburn Burnley 7-1 in their first ever meeting in the East Lancashire Derby on 3 November, 1888. The Riversiders have won three First Division (Premier League) trophies (1911/1912, 1913/1914, 1994/1995).
Blackburn Rovers have clinched six FA Cup titles as well. Speaking of the club’s European success, the Riversiders won the UEFA Intertoto Cup in 2007. The colour of Blackburn’s home kit is blue and white.
