Our prediction for this Champions League match:
Sparkles will be flying when Napoli and Real Madrid go head to head at Stadio Diego Armando Maradona on Tuesday evening. The Neapolitans aim to build on back-to-back wins over Udinese (4-1) and Lecce (4-0) and they are likely to stick to their attacking style of play. Rudi Garcia’s troops are eyeing their second win in Group C, but they will have a big fish to fry against Los Blancos, who are seen as one of the main candidates for the Champions League trophy. Victor Osimhen returns to the starting XI after scoring as a substitute in a 4-0 win over Lecce, while Juan Jesus and Amir Rrahmani continue to miss out with injuries.
Carlo Ancelotti’s men, on the other hand, faced no difficulties in a 3-0 win over surprising La Liga leaders 3-0 at the weekend. Real Madrid aim to overtake Napoli in top position in Group C, but beating Osimhen and Co. in Naples is easier said than done. Taking everything into account, both sides should be happy with one point from Tuesday’s clash. The visitors will be without David Alaba, Thibaut Courtois, and Eder Militao this time out, while fit-again winger Vinicius Junior returns to the starting XI after missing the Union Berlin clash with injury.
Highlighted Player (Luka Modric):
Luka Modric is regarded as one of the best central midfielders in world football. The Croatian ace is a product of Dinamo Zagreb’s youth school and it has to be noted that he played 94 league games for the Modri between 2003 and 2008. In 2008 he signed a six-year deal with Tottenham Hotspur for a fee of £16.5 million.
Luka made his Tottenham debut on 16 August, 2008 in a 2-1 loss to Middlesbrough at Riverside Stadium. The Croatian star scored only 13 goals in 127 league appearances for the Spurs, but he is well known for his brilliant passing. In 2012 he signed for Real Madrid for a fee of £30 million and he made his debut against Barcelona in the 2012 Spanish Super Cup, return leg.
Modric quickly established himself as a first-team regular and, no doubt, he helped the capital club win two Champions League trophies (2013/2014, 2015/2016). You should bear in mind that he was named Croatian Footballer of the Year in 2007, 2008, 2011 and 2014.
Highlighted Team (Napoli):
SSC Napoli is an Italian football club from the city of Naples which is playing currently in the Serie A. The club was founded officially in 1926 but the history from Napoli reaches back to 1904 with the club Naples Foot-Ball & Cricket Club that fused with Internazionale Napoli and was called FBC Internaples.
After 4 seasons the club changed its name to SSC Napoli (Societa Sportiva Calcio).
In the end of the eighties Napoli had the biggest success in the club history with the Argentinian legend Diego Maradona. Diego Maradona was able to win the league title twice, the national cup and the UEFA cup. The moment Maradona left the club Napoli got into big financial trouble.
In 2004 the local club was bankrupt. Despite the help of financial investors the club got regulated to the Serie C. After 6 years of playing in lower divisions Napoli managed to get back in the Serie A in season 2007/2008. Famous players that played for the club from Naples are: Maradona, Zola, Cavani, Blanc, Di Canio, Cannavaro.
