Estadio Municipal de Pasaron will host Thursday’s Copa del Rey game between Pontevedra and Cadiz. Os Granates sit in third position in the Segunda Division B (group 1) standings, with the team beating Cartagena 2-1 in their Copa del Rey opener. Pontevedra are eager to shock the La Liga side, but beating the Yellow Submarine behind closed doors is easier said than done.
Cadiz made a flying start to their La Liga campaign, but they have been anything but brilliant in the Spanish top flight of late. Since the Yellow Submarine often struggle on the travels, we are tempted to put our money on draw this time out. In their last meeting in the Segunda Division Pontevedra and Cadiz played out a 1-1 draw. Anyhow, we believe that the winner of this tie will be decided after extra time.

Alvaro Gimenez is a product of Elche football school who plays for fellow La Liga side Cadiz as a forward. Alvaro played for several Spanish clubs in the past, including Elche, Valencia B, Torrellano, Mallorca, Alcorcon, Almeria, before joining Birmingham City in the 2019/20 season.
After scoring only three goals in 24 appearances for the Blues in the Championship, Alvaro Gimenez returned to Spain at the end of the season, signing a deal with La Liga newcomers Cadiz. The Spanish attacker made his debut with the “Yellow Submarine” on October 4, 2020 in a 1-1 draw with Granada. His main position is centre-forward, but he is used as both left and right winger as well.
Gimenez’s preferred foot is left, and his contract with Cadiz should expire on June 30, 2023. The Cadiz attacker has three caps with the Spain U17 team, but he has yet to earn a call-up for the senior team.

Cadiz is a professional La Liga club that plays home games at Estadio Ramon de Caranza. The capacity of the stadium is 20,724 people, and it was opened back in September 1955. El Submarino Amarillo are well known for their yellow shirts, with the team wearing blue jerseys when playing on the travels.
The club was founded back on Sepember 8, 1910, with the team facing local rivals Cadiz Sporting Club in their first ever official match. Cadiz currently compete in la liga, with the team securing promotion to the Spanish top flight at the end of the 2019/20 season following a 15-year absence. Cadiz are one of those teams who produce much better showings at home than on the travels. Magico Gonzales is the most notable Cadiz player.
