Our prediction for this Coupe de France match:
Big-spending PSG will be aiming to seal their spot in the Coupe de France last 16 when they face National League side Orleans at Stade de la Source. Les Parisiens faced no difficulties in a 2-0 win over ten-man Lens at the weekend and they now aim to extend their winning run in all competitions to five games. As always, a man to keep an eye on in the away team will be Kylian Mbappe, who sealed the victory at Stade Bollaert-Delelis, while both Achraf Hakimi and Kang-in Lee are on international duty. The likes of Presnel Kimpembe, Milan Skriniar, and Nuno Mendes are out of contention with injuries.
Les Guepes, on the other hand, did well to beat Nimes in the previous round, but they are seen as big underdogs in Saturday’s showdown. As David faces Goliath at Stade de la Source, anything but a routine away win would be a big surprise. There are no fresh injury worries in the home team ahead of the visit of Luis Enrique’s troops.
Highlighted Player (Kylian Mbappé):
Kylian Mbappe is a French footballer who plays for Paris Saint-Germain as a forward. The French rising star began his youth career at AS Bondy and in 2013 he moved to AS Monaco. After making 12 appearances for Monaco B, Kylian Mbappe made his debut for the senior team in 2015. Mbappe quickly established himself as a regular goalscorer, with the teenager finding the net 15 times in 29 appearances in the Ligue 1 in the 2016/2017 season.
In 2017 he moved to fellow French club PSG on loan, with the option of making the deal permanent. Kylian Mbappe scored 13 goals in 27 appearances for les Parisiens in the 2017/2018 and it has to be noted that Unai Emery’s troops eventually won the national championship.
Speaking of his international career, Mbappe played an important role for France at the 2018 FIFA World Cup finals, with the pacey rising star scoring a brace in a thrilling 4-3 win over Argentina in the last 16 of the showpiece tournament. The PSG attacker was born in Paris on December 20, 1998.
Highlighted Team (PSG):
Formed by the merger of Paris FC and Stade Saint-Germain in 1970, Paris Saint-Germain or as they call it PSG is the most successful club in French football with 31 domestic titles to their name. Having won six Ligue 1 title so far, a record ten Coupes de France, a record six Coupes de la Ligue, six Trophees des Champions and one Ligue 2 title, PSG are also one of only two French clubs to ever win a European title.
Les Parisiens were crowned UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup champions back in 1995-96, while their last European trophy was the 2001 UEFA Intertoto Cup. Beginning of the new millennium was particularly hard for the celebrated club who flirted with relegation in 2000s before they were bought by the Quatar Sports Investments group in 2011 when the rebirth of the Paris Saint-Germain as we know it today began.
Following heavy squad investments and team boosting, PSG won their first Ligue 1 title in 19 years with Swedish legend Zlatan Ibrahimovic almost singlehandedly leading his side towards the trophy with 30 goals. Having established domestic dominance, PSG now set their sights on winning the Champions League which remains an elusive dream for the club from Paris.
