Our prediction for this EFL Cup match:
Ashton Gate Stadium will host Tuesday’s EFL Cup game between Bristol City and Lincoln City, who meet for the first time since April, 1986. The Robins failed to win the previous four Championship games, and, no doubt, they are eager to return to winning ways on Tuesday evening. George Tanner is back from suspension, and he is likely to return to the starting XI, while all Benarous, Kalas, Naismith, and Wilson should miss out with injuries.
The Imps, on the other hand, suffered a shocking 1-0 loss to Chippenham in their FA Cup opener at the weekend, which is yet another reason why we are going to bet on Bristol City this time out. Both Tashan Oakley-Boothe and Mathew Virtue-Thick are pushing for a start after the duo came from the bench in the FA Cup defeat.
Highlighted Player (Nathan Baker):
Nathan Baker is a product of Aston Villa football academy. The left-footed defender played 115 games for Aston Villa in the league and it has to be noted that he scored only goal for the club during his spell at Villa Park. Nathan Baker is used as both centre-back and left-back and the 189-cm-tall footballer is very good in the air.
Nathan Baker was born in Worcester, England on April 23, 1991 and he currently plays for Bristol City in the Championship. After ending his loan spell with the Robins, he signed a permanent deal with the club on July 28, 2017 for an undisclosed fee. Nathan Baker has yet to make his debut for England national team, but he has three caps for England U21 team.
Nathan Baker made his debut for the under-21 squad against Iceland back in 2011. The English footballer has a contract with Bristol City which expires on June 30, 2021.
Highlighted Team (Lincoln):
Lincoln City are one of the oldest clubs competing in the League One as they were founded back in 1884. Lincoln City FC were established as an amateur association, but they turned professional in the 1891/1892 season.
Back then they played at John O’Gaunts stadium, but nowadays Sincil Bank is the club’s home ground. Sincil Bank was opened in 1895, holding up to 10,120 people. The club’s main colours are red, white and black, whilst the Imps wear green shirts and white shorts when playing on the road. Lincoln City and Mansfield Town are regarded as the club’s fiercest rivals, but the Limps had some sort of local rivalry with Peterborough United, Hull City and York City as well.
Albert Iremonger (42 years and 312 days) is the oldest footballer to have played for the club, whilst Shane Nicholson (16 years and 112 days) is the youngest one. Lincoln City recorded a thrilling 9-1 victory over then local rivals Sleaford in their first game.
