Our prediction for this EFL Cup match:
All eyes will be on St James Park when Newcastle United and Arsenal face each other in the EFL Cup semis on Wednesday evening. The Magpies aim to recover from a 2-1 loss to Fulham, but they face yet another tough challenge against Mikel Arteta’s troops. All Callum Wilson, Harvey Barnes, and Jamaal Lascelles are out of contention with injuries for the home side, while right-back Kieran Trippier is pushing for a recall to the starting XI.
The Gunners, on the other hand, are on a four-game winning run in all competitions. Arsenal looked sharp in front of goal in a 5-1 win over star-studded Man City and given Newcastle’s attacking potential at home, there is a big value in betting on both teams to score. Even though Newcastle defeated Arsenal 2-0 in the first leg, a high-scoring affair is on the cards this time out as Mikel Arteta’s men have no other option but to go all guns blazing at the Magpies. All Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Jesus, Takehiro Tomiyasu, and Ben White miss out with injuries for the capital club.
Highlighted Player (Thomas Partey):

After starting his youth career at Odometah, Thomas Partey was spotted by Atletico Madrid scouts in 2011 and he soon joined the Estadio Vicente Calderon outfit. The defensive midfielder, who born in Odumase Krobo, Ghana on 13 June, 1993, played 33 league games for Atletico Madrid B, while making 14 league appearances for the first team.
After ending his loan spells with Mallorca and Almeria, Thomas Partey returned to Atletico Madrid in 2015 and he made his debut for Diego Simeone’s team in a 1-0 win over Espanyol. The Ghanaian footballer played in the 2015/2016 Champions League final against Real Madrid, coming as a substitute in the 116th minute of the game.
Thomas Partey made his Ghana debut in a 2-0 win over Mauritius in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match. His main position is defensive midfield, but the Atletico Madrid man is capable of playing as a central midfielder as well. Partey scored two goals for los Rojiblancos in the 2015/2016 La Liga campaign.
Highlighted Team (Newcastle):

Newcastle United failed to impress in the 2015/2016 Premier League campaign and, as a result, they dropped to the English second tier. The Magpies will host their rivals at their St. James’ Park in the 2016/2017 Championship campaign and it has to be noted that the capacity of the stadium is 52,354.
Newcastle United have won four domestic trophies (1904/1905, 1906/1907, 1908/1909, 1926/1927), while lifting six FA Cup titles (1910, 1924, 1932, 1951, 1952, 1955) and a number of star players were part of the St. James’ Park outfit in the past.
David Ginola, Michael Owen, Alan Shearer, Les Ferdinand, Nolberto Solano, Gary Speed, Obafemi Martins and Kevin Nolan are notable footballers who are still remembered at the club. Newcastle’s fiercest rivals are Sunderland and there have always been fireworks when the two local rivals face each other in the Tyne-Wear derby. The color of Newcastle’s home kit is black and white.
