Our prediction for this Europa Conference League match:
Sivasspor and Cluj, the two teams who are level on points in Group G, square off against each other at Yeni 4 Eylul Stadyumu on Thursday evening. Sivasspor aim to build on a 2-1 win over Ballkani, and they are surely capable of matching Cluj in front of home fans. The likes of James, Musa, Erdal, Ulvestad, and Yalcin, have been struggling with injuries of late, which is probably the main reason why home win should not be considered.
The Romanians, on the other hand, did well to beat Slavia Prague in their last group game to move one step closer to booking their spot in the last 32. Since both sides should be happy with one point from Thursday’s clash, we believe that gamblers from all four corners of the world can find value in betting on draw. Croatia forward Gabriel Debeljuh remains on the sidelines with injury for the away team.
Highlighted Player (Guessouma Fofana):
Guessouma Fofana is a footballer of Malian descent who plays for Amiens in Ligue 1. Fofana started his career at Le Havre B and after making 20 appearances for the club he joined Boulogne B in 2012. Due to the lack of first-team football, he moved to Lyon-Duchere in 2013 and the midfielder played 43 games for the club before joining Amiens in 2015.
The 184-cm-tall footballer has been playing for les Licornes ever since and it has to be noted that he scored three goals and provided three assists for his teammates in the 2016/2017 Ligue 2 campaign. Amiens enjoyed a very successful season and, as a result, they secured promotion to the French top flight.
Guessouma Fofana was born in Le Havre on December 17, 1992 and his preferred foot is right. His main position is central midfield, but he is capable of playing as a defensive midfielder as well. Fofana’s contract with Amiens expires on June 30, 2018.
Highlighted Team (CFR Cluj):
Cluj are one of the oldest clubs in Romania as they were founded back in 1907 when the city of Cluj-Napoca was part of Austria-Hungary. The Feroviarii host their rivals at Dr. Constantin Radulescu Stadium, the venue which can hold up to 23,500 spectators.
Cluj are one of the most successful Romanian clubs of the 21st century, with the team clinching their fifth domestic trophy in the 2018/2019 season. Universitatea Cluj are considered the club’s fiercest rivals and it has to be noted that they first faced each other back in October, 1920.
The Feroviarii hold rivalries with Dinamo Bucuresti, Rapid Bucuresti, FCSB, Universitatea Craiova and Politehnica Timisoara as well. Speaking of European competitions, Cluj did well to make it to the UEFA Intertoto Cup final in 2005, with the team losing to French club Lens in the double-header. Cluj footballers wear claret shirts and claret shorts when playing at home, whilst the club’s away kit is white.
