Our prediction for this Europa League match:
Borussia Dortmund play host to Rangers at their Signal-Iduna-Park in the Europa League last 32, first leg. Borussia Dortmund quickly bounced back from a heavy 5-2 loss to Bayer Leverkusen, with the team outplaying Union Berlin 3-0, and they are likely to stick to their attacking style of play. In Erling Haaland’s absence (hip injury) a man to watch in the home team will be Marco Reus, who scored a brace at the weekend.
The likes of Marius Wolf, Thomas Meunier, and Mateu Morey miss out with injuries as well. The Gers, on the other hand, are still in a two-horse title race with Celtic, speaking of the Premiership. Rangers, though, have been anything but impressive ever since head coach Steven Gerrard left the club, and we do not believe that they are capable of spoiling Borussia’s party at Signal-Iduna-Park. Both Ryan Jack and Ianis Hagi are injured for the visiting side.
Highlighted Player (Marco Reus):
Marco Reus is a German football player who was born on 31 May, 1989. The pacey attacking midfielder, who is capable of playing as a winger as well, started his senior career at Rot Weiss Ahlen and it has to be noted that he made 43 league appearances for the club in lower leagues.
In 2009 he signed a four-year contract with Borussia M’gladbach and he scored his first Bundesliga goal against Mainz on 28 August, 2009. After impressing with the Fohlen in the 2011/2012 Bundesliga campaign, he joined Borussia Dortmund at the end of the season. He has been playing for the Millionaires ever since and he represents Germany on the international stage as well.
However, he was more than unfortunate to miss the 2014 FIFA World Cup with injury when Joachim Low’s team lifted the prestigious trophy. To make things even worse for Marco Reus, he was forced to withdraw from the Germany Euro 2016 squad as well (injury). The German ace has a contract with Borussia Dortmund which expires on 30 June, 2019.
Highlighted Team (Rangers):
Glasgow Rangers are one of the two synonyms for Scottish Football. Glasgow Rangers were founded back in 1872 and they have been playing an important role in the Scottish top flight ever since. The Gers won their 54th Scottish Premier League title in the 2010/2011 season, but winning of European Cup Winners’ Cup trophy in 1972 is considered the club’s biggest success.
Glasgow Rangers defeated Dynamo Moscow in the final of the competition, with the likes of Stein and Johnston (two goals) scoring for the Scottish side. Celtic are considered the club’s biggest rivals and there have always been fireworks when the two teams meet in the Old Firm derby. The likes of Paul Gascoigne, David Weir, Stefan Klos, Chris Boyd, Ian Durrant and Kenny Miller are some of Rangers’ former notable players.
It has to be noted that the Gers welcome their rivals at Ibrox Stadium, the venue with the capacity of 50,817. Rangers’ support is largely drawn from the Protestant Unionist community.
