Our prediction for this Europa League match:
Lazio will be looking to kick off their Europa League campaign in style when they take on Cluj at Stadionul Dr. Constantin Radulescu on Thursday evening. The Biancocelesti have big ambitions for the 2019/2020 Europa League season and we are positive that the Serie A club will go for a win in their opener. A man to keep an eye on in the away team will be experienced Italian attacker Ciro Immobile, but Serbia international Sergej Milinkovic-Savic is likely to prove a handful for the opposition defenders as well.
Cluj, on the other hand, missed out on a place in the Champions League due to a loss to Slavia Prague in the play-offs, but the fact that the Romanian side outplayed Celtic at Celtic Park in the qualifiers for the elite competition is certainly giving fans a reason for optimism ahead of the visit of Lazio. A close encounter is on the cards and we are tempted to put our money on draw.
Highlighted Player (George Tucudean):
George Tucudean is a Romanian striker who started his youth career at Atletico Arad. Tucudean, on the other hand, began his senior career at UTA Arad and after scoring 21 goals in 53 appearances for the club in the league, he moved to famous Romanian club Dinamo Bucuresti in 2010.
The list of clubs he played for is pretty long and it has to be noted that he was producing splendid performances with Viitorul Constanta in the 2017/2018 season. George Tucudean was the top scorer of the Romanian first division that season, but in the summer of 2018 he moved to Cluj. He repeated the success with his new club, scoring 18 goals in 27 appearances for Cluj in the Romanian top flight.
As a result, he was named Romanian Footballer of the year for 2018 by local newspaper Gazeta Sporturilor. Tucudean scored his first goal for the Romanian national team in a 2-1 win over Israel on March 24, 2018.
Highlighted Team (Lazio):
Lazio Roma are an Italian football club based in Rome. Lazio were founded in 1900 and they compete in the Serie A. The Biancocelesti (The White and Sky Blues) have won two Serie A trophies (1973/1974, 1999/2000), while lifting six Coppa Italia titles.
The capital club play their home games at Stadio Olimpico and Roma are regarded as Lazio’s main rivals.
The two teams face each other in the Derby della Capitale and it is considered the fiercest inter-city derby in Italy. Lazio won UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup in 1999, with the team beating Mallorca in the title game. The same year they managed to clinch the UEFA Super Cup trophy as they outplayed English giants Manchester United at Stade Louis II, Monaco.
The likes of Pavel Nedved, Giuseppe Favalli, Juan Sebastian Veron, Sinisa Mihajlovic, Roberto Mancini, Giuseppe Signori, Miroslav Klose and Simone Inzaghi are notable footballers who played for Lazio in the past.
