Our prediction for this Europa League match:
After sharing the spoils with Olympique Marseille in their last group game, Lazio will be aiming to return to winning ways in the Europa League when they take on Lokomotiv in Moscow on Thursday. The Biancocelesti have been having their ups and downs in the first half of the season, but they must be low on confidence following a 2-0 loss to Juventus. In Ciro Immobile’s absence, former Barcelona ace should continue to lead the line for the Serie A outfit.
The Russians, on the other hand, suffered a shocking loss to Akhmat Grozny in the national championship, and seeing that they have yet to record a win in the 2021/2022 Europa League campaign, we are tempted to put our money on Maurizio Sarri’s troops. As for the hosts, all Barinov, Maradishvili, Kulikov, and Jedvaj return from domestic bans, while Miranchuk, Ze Luis, Zhemaletdinov, and Magkeev should all miss out through injuries.
Highlighted Player (François Kamano):
Guinea international Francis Kamano is a flamboyant attacking midfielder who plays for the Ligue 1 side Bordeaux. Best fitted hugging the touchline on the left side of the pitch, Kamano is a versatile asset who covers a wide area and takes part in both defensive and attacking duties.
Francois Kamano likes to cut inside and break opposition lines with one-twos and short passes. Kamano started his career at Bastia in 2014 and moved to Bordeaux two years later. A Guinea international since 2015, Francois Kamano is a technically astute player who enjoys taking on players and dribbling his way through opposition.
Still a young footballer, Kamano has emerged as one of the key players for Bordeaux. He hit the ground running in the 2018/19 campaign and hopes to maintain it throughout the season to possibly secure a big-club move at the end of the term.
Highlighted Team (Lazio):
Lazio Roma are an Italian football club based in Rome. Lazio were founded in 1900 and they compete in the Serie A. The Biancocelesti (The White and Sky Blues) have won two Serie A trophies (1973/1974, 1999/2000), while lifting six Coppa Italia titles.
The capital club play their home games at Stadio Olimpico and Roma are regarded as Lazio’s main rivals.
The two teams face each other in the Derby della Capitale and it is considered the fiercest inter-city derby in Italy. Lazio won UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup in 1999, with the team beating Mallorca in the title game. The same year they managed to clinch the UEFA Super Cup trophy as they outplayed English giants Manchester United at Stade Louis II, Monaco.
The likes of Pavel Nedved, Giuseppe Favalli, Juan Sebastian Veron, Sinisa Mihajlovic, Roberto Mancini, Giuseppe Signori, Miroslav Klose and Simone Inzaghi are notable footballers who played for Lazio in the past.
