Our prediction for this Europa League match:
A spot in the Europa League second qualifying round will be at stake when Maribor and Botev Plovdiv face each other at Ljudski vrt on Thursday evening. The Violets suffered a 2-1 loss to Botev in Bulgaria, but their performance in the first leg was anything but poor. Even though there are no fresh injury worries in the home team, Ivory Coast forward Etienne Beugre could sneak into the starting XI.
The Bulgarians, on the other hand, are eager to defend their slim lead in the second leg. Botev Plovdiv, though, are not regarded as good travellers and we do not believe that they are capable of spoiling Maribor’s party at Ljudski vrt. Talented Bulgaria midfielder Nikola Iliev is pushing for a start after scoring as a substitute in the first leg, while the opposition back-line should have experienced forward Anthony Ujah at bay. The Nigeria international played for the likes of Koln, Werder Bremen, Mainz, and Union Berlin in the past.
