Our prediction for this Europa League match:
Following a routine 3-0 win over Leganes, Real Sociedad will look to give fans yet another reason to celebrate when they face Dynamo Kyiv in the Europa League round 6. The Basques have found their best form of late and, as a result, they are seen as hot favourites to beat the Ukrainians at their Reale Arena. Martin Zubimendi has joined the likes of Elustondo, Oskarsson, Traore, Turrientes, and Zakharyan in the recovery room, but there are no fresh injury worries in the home team.
Dynamo Kyiv, on the other hand, will be without suspended left-back Vladyslav Dubinchak in Thursday’s clash, which is yet another reason why home win should be considered. As Oleksandr Shovkovsky have suffered a loss in each of their five games in the process, anything but a routine home win would be a big surprise. Vladyslav Vanat is widely expected to lead the line for the away team.
Highlighted Player (Mikel Oyarzabal):
Intelligence is not an attribute you will find in Mikel Oyarzabal’s stats with Real Sociedad but this tricky winger is a highly knowledgeable winger who will use both brain and feet while playing. For a player born in Eibar, who made his first steps in his hometown club, it was always going to be a choice between Athletic Bilbao and Real Sociedad for Oyarzabal.
La Real saw their chance and grabbed this gem of a player at a young age, helping him develop into a proper professional throughout their youth ranks. Mikel Oyarzabal has spent the entirety of his senior career with the Basque behemoths where he’d use his ability to fill in a number of positions up top much to his own benefit.
Oyarzabal’s positioning and movement are work of a tactical genius, whereas it is his nous to find details to exploit that best define him as a player. Having come through the youth categories of the Spanish national team, Oyarzabal also has a senior cap next to his name. It was in 2016 that he also represented the Basque region, scoring on his debut to cap a 3-1 win over Tunisia.
Highlighted Team (Dynamo Kyiv):
The most successful football club in Ukraine, Dynamo Kyiv has not been relegated to a lower division since its inception in 1927. First founded as a part of the Soviet Dynamo Sports Society, Dynamo Kyiv became a member of the Ukrainian Premier League after the dissolution of the Soviet Union.
Over the course of its rich history, Dynamo Kyiv has won the total of 28 national titles, 13 of which came during the Soviet era. In addition, Dynamo Kyiv won 20 national cup competitions, while it also grabbed 3 major continental trophies, including two UEFA Cup Winners’ Cups. Oleh Blokhin remains to this date the most successful player of the Ukrainian giants with his 266 goals scored for the Kyiv club.
However, current Ukraine national team head coach Andriy Shevchenko is arguably the most recognisable player in Dynamo Kyiv history. Former Milan and Chelsea star scored the total of 124 goal during his two stints with the Ukrainian club.
