Our prediction for this Europa League match:
Slavia Prague play host to Sheriff Tiraspol at their Fortuna Arena in the Europa League group stages round 2. Slavia are eager to retain top position in Group G and we are positive that they will adopt yet another attack-minded strategy against the Moldovans. Experienced forward Ivan Schranz is pushing for a start after coming as a substitute in a goalless draw with Teplice at the weekend, while defender Jan Boril is back from the domestic ban.
Sheriff, on the other hand, aim to recover from a 2-1 loss to Roma, but they will have to do it without suspended Midfielder Joao Paulo, who was sent off in the Group G opener. The Moldovan champions are not regarded as good travellers and we do not believe that they are capable of spoiling Slavia Prague’s party at Fortuna Arena. In their last meeting in a competitive match, back in 2009, the two teams played out a 1-1 draw.
Highlighted Player (Ondrej Kolar ):
Born in Liberec, Czech Republic on October 17, 1994, Ondrej Kolar is a towering goalkeeper who plays for Slavia Prague. Kolar started his youth career at his hometown club Liberec, and he continued playing for the White-Blues at senior level.
After making 30 league appearances for the club, he move to Slavia Prague in 2018. It has to be noted that he played for Varnsdorf on loan as well during his spell with Liberec. The Czech shot-stopper has established himself as a first-team regular at Slavia Prague where he became the most expensive goalkeeper in the Czech First League history.
Speaking of his international career, the 193-cm-tall goalkeeper made his debut for the national team on November 17, 2019 in the Euro 2020 qualifying match against Bulgaria. His preferred foot is right, and he wears the No. 1 jersey at Slavia Prague. His contract with the capital club should expire in June 2022.
Highlighted Team (Sheriff Tiraspol):
Sheriff Tiraspol or simply Sheriff are the most successful Moldavian club. The club was founded in 1997 four years later (2000/2001) they won their first Moldovan National Division trophy. Over the years Sheriff Tiraspol have established themselves as the dominant force in the Moldovan football and you should that they won their 15th domestic trophy in the 2016/2017 season.
Sheriff were level on points with Dacia Chisinau, but thanks to a better goal difference Roberto Bordin’s men won the national championship. The Moldovan champions wear yellow shirts and yellow shorts when playing at home, whilst the colour of their away kits is black. Sheriff Tiraspol host their opponents at Sheriff Stadium in Tiraspol and the venue can hold 12.746 people.
By beating the likes of Dinamo Tirana and Dinamo Zagreb the Moldovan club did well to make it to the Champions League play-off round in the 2010/2011 season, but Basel eventually proved to be a big catch for them.
