Our prediction for this match:
Following a hard-fought 1-0 win over New Zealand, Egypt will look to give fans yet another reason to celebrate when they take on Croatia at Misr Stadium (Cairo). The Pharaohs looked sharp at the back in their last warm-up game and they are likely to adopt yet another defence-minded approach against Croatia. Liverpool ace Mohamed Salah has been excluded from the March friendlies, while Hamdi Fathi should replace Emam Ashour in the starting XI as the later limped off with injury in the triumph over the All Whites.
Zlatko Dalic’s men, on the other hand, defeated Tunisia on penalties in their last international friendly and seeing that they managed to keep a clean sheet last time out as well, we are tempted to place our bets on under 2.5 goals. All Lovro Majer, Nikola Vlasic, and Duje Caleta-Car should be recalled to the starting eleven, speaking of the away side.
Highlighted Player (Luka Modric):
Luka Modric is regarded as one of the best central midfielders in world football. The Croatian ace is a product of Dinamo Zagreb’s youth school and it has to be noted that he played 94 league games for the Modri between 2003 and 2008. In 2008 he signed a six-year deal with Tottenham Hotspur for a fee of £16.5 million.
Luka made his Tottenham debut on 16 August, 2008 in a 2-1 loss to Middlesbrough at Riverside Stadium. The Croatian star scored only 13 goals in 127 league appearances for the Spurs, but he is well known for his brilliant passing. In 2012 he signed for Real Madrid for a fee of £30 million and he made his debut against Barcelona in the 2012 Spanish Super Cup, return leg.
Modric quickly established himself as a first-team regular and, no doubt, he helped the capital club win two Champions League trophies (2013/2014, 2015/2016). You should bear in mind that he was named Croatian Footballer of the Year in 2007, 2008, 2011 and 2014.
Highlighted Team (Egypt):
Egypt are an African football team that plays their home games at Borg El Arab Stadium in Alexandria. Over the years Egypt have established themselves as the most successful national team in Africa and you should bear in mind that they won their seventh African Cup of Nations trophy in 2010.
The Pharaohs participated at the World Cup finals on two occasions (1934 and 1990) and they failed to make it to the knockout stages of the showpiece tournament. Egypt suffered a 4-2 loss to Hungary on their World Cup debut and it has to be noted that the African team scored no more than one goal at the 1990 FIFA World Cup.
Ahmed Hassan is the player with the most caps for the Egyptian national team (184), while Hossam Hassan is the team’s top scorer (68). The colour of Egypt’s home kit is red and white and the Pharaohs play their away games in white shits and black shorts.
