Our prediction for this match:
Norway play host to Kosovo at their Ullevaal Stadion in what is expected to be an exciting friendly game. The Norwegians missed out on a spot at the EURO 2024 finals, meaning that we will not be watching Erling Haaland at the showpiece tournament in Germany. The former Borussia Dortmund star, though, is likely to start against Kosovo as well as Arsenal midfielder Martin Odegaard.
The Kosovars, on the other hand, failed to impress in a 2-0 loss to Hungary. Milot Rashica has been omitted this time out, but all Vedat Muriqi, Edon Zhegrova, Valon Berisha, and Elbasan Rashani made the cut. Anyhow, home win should be considered as Erling Haaland and Co. are eager to make amends for the unsuccessful EURO 2024 qualifying campaign. It has to be noted that the two national teams meet for the first time on the international stage.
Highlighted Player (Birger Meling):
Born in Stavanger, Norway on December 17, 1994, Birger Meling is a defender who plays for Eliteserien club Rosenborg. Meling began his youth career at Viking back in 2000, but 13 years later he moved to English club Middlesbrough. However, the Norwegian footballer did not play for the Riverside Stadium outfit at senior level.
Meling started his senior career at Stabaek, but after scoring five goals in 57 appearances for the Blue Ones in the league, he moved to famous Norwegian club Rosenborg in the winter of 2017. Speaking of his international career, Meling made his debut with the Norway national team on November 11, 2017 in a 2-0 loss over North Macedonia.
The Rosenborg defender has six caps with Norway U21 team as well. His preferred foot is left, whilst his main position on the field is left-back. The 173-cm-tall footballer has a contract with Rosenborg, which should expire on December 31, 2020.
Highlighted Team (Kosovo):
Despite the fact that a number of countries have yet to recognize Kosovo, they have been participating in the World Cup qualifiers September 5, 2016. Kosovo did well to hold Finland to a 1-1 draw in their opener, but they were outclassed by Croatia (0-6) in their second group game.
Albert Bunjaki’s men have slim chances of qualifying for the showpiece tournament in Russia, but, no doubt, they will use qualifying matches to gain a much-needed experience. Kosovo recorded their biggest win over Monaco on April 22, 2006, but they were not a member of FIFA back then. The Kosovo national football team played their first ever international friendly against Haiti in March 2014 and the match ended in a goalless draw.
Kosovo footballers wear blue shirts and black shorts when playing at home, while they play in yellow shirts and yellow shorts when facing their rivals on the road. Albert Bunjaku, who played for the likes of Nurnberg and Kaiserslautern in the past, is the team’s most notable player.
