Our prediction for this match:
All eyes will be on London Stadium when Spain and Colombia face each other in a warm-up game on Friday evening. La Roja are brimming with confidence following six consecutive wins in the EURO 2024 qualifiers and they are seen as favourites to beat los Cafeteros as well. As star players Alvaro Morata, Rodri, and Mikel Oyarzabal all made the cut, while the likes of Ansu Fati, Ferran Torres, and Pedri have been left out of the squad.
Colombia, on the other hand, are on a four-game winning run in all competitions ahead of the trip to London, but seeing that Friday’s clash will be played in Europe, we are tempted to place our bets on Luis de la Fuente’s charges. The likes of Yerry Mina, Luis Sinisterra, Luis Diaz, and James Rodriguez are the most notable players in Nestor Lorenzo’s team. New Orlando City striker Luis Muriel has been omitted.
Highlighted Player (Dani Olmo):
After starting his youth career at Espanyol, Dani Olmo moved to fellow Catalan side Barcelona in 2007 at the age of nine. The Spanish player born in Terrasa on May 7, 1998 then moved to Dinamo Zagreb, where he established himself as a first-team regular.
Dani Olmo was on the verge of leaving the Croatian club in the summer of 2019, but he eventually stayed at Stadion Maksimir. Olmo is one of the most talented footballers in Spain and he helped the U21 team clinch the Euro 2019 trophy. La Furia Roja defeated Germany in the final of the tournament, with Olmo being named Man of the match.
The Spanish attacking midfielder, who is used as a winger as well, was named the Croatian First Football League player of the year for 2018. His preferred foot is right and he has a contract with Dinamo Zagreb until June 30, 2021.
Highlighted Team (Colombia):
Seleccion de futbol Colombia has stepped on to the international scene in 1938 with its competitive debut against Mexico. Colombia has in recent years become a national symbol of strength representing country’s efforts to fight the negative reputation.
Passionate about their football team, Colombians have formed a huge fan base which enjoyed in their team’s impressive run to the 2014 FIFA World Cup quarter-finals at the competition in which Real Madrid star James Rodriguez was awarded the Golden Boot for most goals and the Best Goal of the Tournament awards. Jose Pekerman’s team has also been named the Fair Play team at the same event.
The fans were pretty disappointed to see their team reach the quarter-final stage at the 2015 Copa America though as Colombia crashed out in disappointing fashion losing to Argentina after a penalty kick. Radamel Falcao remains the most prominent star of the current team despite his poor spells with Manchester United and Chelsea respectively. Monaco striker is also the team’s top scorer with 25 goals added to his name.
