Our prediction for this League 1 match:
Crown Ground will host Tuesday’s football match between Accrington and Oxford United. The Accy Stanley are on a six-game winless run in the League One, with the team slipping down the standings week by week. Accrington have been struggling in front of goal of late, which is probably the main reason why home win should not be considered. Both Colby Bishop and David Morgan are sidelined with injuries, while Joe Pritchard is a major doubt.
The Yellows, on the other hand, aim to build on a 3-2 win over Portsmouth. Oxford United have been impressive in front of goal in 2022, and we predict that they are going to give fans yet another reason for celebration on Tuesday evening. Defensive midfielder Gorrin should be the only absentee in the away side. In the first half of the season Oxford United rolled over Accrington 5-1, which is yet another reason why away win should be considered.
Highlighted Player (Stephen Sama):
Born in Bamenda, Cameroon on March 5, 1993, Stephen Sama is a towering defender who plays for Accrington Stanley in the League One. After moving to Germany, Sama received German citizenship in 2009, and, as a result, he represented the European country at youth level.
The Cameroon-born player has 16 caps in total for Germany U17, U18, U19 and U20 teams. Speaking of his club career, Stephen Sama played for the likes of Schwarz-Weiss Eppendorf, Wattenscheid, Bochum, Borussia Dortmund, and Liverpool before moving to Stuttgart. Sama played for the likes of Greuther Furth, Osnabruck, and Heracles Almelo before signing a deal with League One club Accrington Stanley.
The 188-cm tall defender made his League One debut on September 12, 2020 in a 2-0 win over Peterborough United. His main position is centre-back, but he is used as both right-back and defensive midfielder as well. His preferred foot is right.
Highlighted Team (Oxford United):
Oxford United are one of the oldest clubs in the League One as they were founded back in 1893. However, Oxford United adopted their current name 67 years later and have been playing under it ever since.
Over the years the Yellows have built a great rivalry with Swindon Town and there have always been fireworks in clashes between the two sides. Oxford United play home matches at Kassam Stadium, the venue with the capacity of 12,500. The stadium was built in 1997 and has been Oxford United’s home ground ever since. The Boys from Up the Hill are well known for their yellow and blue colours, but they play their away games in dark blue (with a little yellow) or black kits.
Oxford’s player with the most league appearances is John Shuker, playing 478 games for the club from 1962 to 1977. On the other hand, Jim Magilton is the club’s most capped player in internationals, playing 18 games for Northern Ireland.
