Our prediction for this League 1 match:
The Wham Stadium will host Saturday’s football game between Accrington and Wycombe, the two teams who were beaten by Doncaster and Wigan respectively in midweek. The Accy Stanley are stuck in the middle of the table, meaning that they will have little to play for in the remainder of the season. Since Accrington failed to impress in a 2-0 loss to relegation-threatened Doncaster on Tuesday evening, home win should not be considered.
The Chairboys, on the other hand, are eager to regain their spot in top six, and they should take advantage of Accrington’s poor form. Veteran attacker Adebayo Akinfenwa is pushing for a rare start, while fit-again midfielder Dominic Gape should start from the bench. In the first half of the season Wycombe defeated Accrington 2-1, which is yet another reason why we are tempted to put our money on the visitors.
Highlighted Player (Stephen Sama):
Born in Bamenda, Cameroon on March 5, 1993, Stephen Sama is a towering defender who plays for Accrington Stanley in the League One. After moving to Germany, Sama received German citizenship in 2009, and, as a result, he represented the European country at youth level.
The Cameroon-born player has 16 caps in total for Germany U17, U18, U19 and U20 teams. Speaking of his club career, Stephen Sama played for the likes of Schwarz-Weiss Eppendorf, Wattenscheid, Bochum, Borussia Dortmund, and Liverpool before moving to Stuttgart. Sama played for the likes of Greuther Furth, Osnabruck, and Heracles Almelo before signing a deal with League One club Accrington Stanley.
The 188-cm tall defender made his League One debut on September 12, 2020 in a 2-0 win over Peterborough United. His main position is centre-back, but he is used as both right-back and defensive midfielder as well. His preferred foot is right.
Highlighted Team (Wycombe):
Founded back in 1887, Wycombe Wanderers are one of the oldest clubs in the League One. The Chairboys are well known for their sky blue and dark blue shirts, but the colour of their away kit is orange combined with gun-metal gray.
Wycombe Wanderers host their rivals at Adams Park, a small stadium in Sands Industrial Estate which can hold up to 10,137 people. Milton Keynes Dons are seen as the club’s main rivals, with the two teams facing each other in the Buckinghamshire derby. Wycombe Wanderers made it to the FA Cup semis in the 2000/2001, with the team repeating the success in the League Cup six seasons later.
It has to be noted that the Chairboys have two FA Trophy titles (1991, 1993). Legendary midfielder Gareth Ainsworth is considered one of the club’s most famous players. Ainsworth scored 16 goals in 112 league appearances for Wycombe Rovers.
