Our prediction for this League 1 match:
Saturday’s football game at the Valley pits together Charlton Athletic and Cheltenham Town, the two teams who sit in the danger zone ahead of Matchday 7. The Red Robins have one game in hand, and, no doubt, a win over Crewe gave them a confidence boost. Jayden Stockley, who found the net in the last league match, will be one of the men to watch in the home team.
The Robins, on the other hand, aim to put an end to their three game winless run. Since both sides will go for a win in the Valley showdown, we believe that punters from all around the globe can find value in betting on both teams to score. Cheltenham boss Michael Duff has no fresh injury worries ahead of the match, and he is unlikely to make too many changes to the team that shared the spoils with MK Dons at the weekend.
Highlighted Player (Marcus Maddison):
After spending his youth career at Newcastle United, Marcus Maddison signed a professional contract with the Magpies in the 2012/2013 season. However, he was immediately loaned to Blyth Spartans where he scored one goal in two appearances.
In 2013 the pacey winger was released by Newcastle United, signing a deal with Scottish club St. Jonstone. Due to a hunger for a first-team football Marcus Maddison returns to England in the summer of 2013, signing a contract with Conference Premier club Gateshead. The 180-cm tall footballer scored 13 goals in 34 appearances for the club before joining Peterborough United in 2014.
Maddison has established himself as a first-team regular at Peterborough and he is widely expected to play an important role in the London Road Stadium outfit in the 2019/2020 League One season. The English footballer, who is capable of playing as both winger and attacking midfielder, was born in Durham on September 26, 1993.
Highlighted Team (Cheltenham):
Founded in 1887 by a local teacher Albert Close White, Cheltenham Town are an English club that compete in League Two. The Robins wear white jerseys with red stripes and white shorts when playing at home, while sky blue is the dominant colour of their away kit.
Cheltenham Town clinched the FA Trophy in 1998, with the team defeating Southport 1-0 in the title game. The match was played at Wembley Stadium in front of 26,837 spectators, with John Eaton scoring the only goal of the match. The Robins have won Leamington Hospital Cup, Midland Floodlit Cup, Gloucestershire Senior Cup, Cheltenham League and Gloucestershire Senior Amateur North Challenge Cup as well.
The likes of Gloucester City and Hereford are seen as Cheltenham’s traditional rivals, while, in more recent years, Forest Green Rovers have been the club’s main rivals. A 12-0 win over Chippenham Rovers (November 2, 1935), with the team suffering their biggest defeat against Tydfil (1-10) on March 8, 1952.
