Our prediction for this League 1 match:
Buoyed by a 1-0 win over MK Dons, Charlton will look to give fans yet another reason to celebrate when they take on relegation-threatened Morecambe in London. The Red Robins proved their worth in the midweek triumph, with Jack Payne scoring the only goal of the match, and they must be high on confidence ahead of Saturday’s encounter. Defender Mandela Egbo is widely expected to return to the starting XI after coming off the bench against the Dons, while there are no fresh injury worries in the home team.
The Shrimps, on the other hand, aim to build on a hard-fought 1-0 win over Wycombe, but given their dreadful away record (1-6-14), we believe that there is a big value in betting on the capital club. As always, a man to watch in the away team will be Cole Stockton, who scored the winner at the weekend.
Highlighted Player (Jake Forster-Caskey ):
Born in Southend-on-Sea, England on April 25, 1994 Jake Forster-Caskey is a midfielder who plays for Charlton Athletic in the League One. Forster-Caskey started his both youth and senior careers at Brighton & Hove Albion and it has to be noted that he scored five goals in 67 league appearances for the Seagulls first team.
After spending a couple of seasons on loan at the likes of Oxford United, Milton Keynes Dons and Rotherham United, the English footballer signed a two-and-a-half year deal with Charlton Athletic in the winter of 2017. Jake quickly established himself as a first-team regular at the capital club, scoring 5 goals in 43 appearances in the 2017/2018 League One campaign.
However, he was out of contention for most of the 2018/2019 season with a serious knee injury. His main position is central midfielder, but he is capable of playing as both defensive and left midfielder as well.
Highlighted Team (Morecambe):
Based in Lancashire, England, Morecambe are a professional club that compete in the League 2. The Shrimps were founded in 1920, and they welcome their home rivals at Globe Arena. The venue, which was opened in August, 2010, can hold up to 6,476 people.
Morecambe wear red shirts and red shorts when playing in front of home fans, while yellow is the dominant colour of their away kit. Fellow Lancashire-based club Accrington Stanley are seen as the club’s fiercest rivals. The Shrimps have rivalries with the likes of Lancaster City, Fleetwood Town, Barrow, Kendal Town, and Southport as well.
In 1974 Morecambe won the FA Trophy as they defeated Dartford 2-1 in the title game, and 14 years later they lifted the Conference League Cup trophy. The Shrimps secured promotion into the Football League with a 2-1 win over Exeter City in the 2007 play-offs final.
