Our prediction for this League 1 match:
There will be fireworks when Derby County and Barnsley take on each other at Pride Park in a highly-anticipated League One clash. The Rams continue life without ex head coach Wayne Rooney, with the team beating Oxford United in their opener, while losing to Charlton on Matchday 2. There are no fresh injury worries in the home team, but Tom Barkhuizen should be recalled to the starting line-up after scoring a winner in the EFL Cup clash against Mansfield on Tuesday.
The Tykes, on the other hand, quickly bounced back from a 1-0 loss to Plymouth, with the team beating Cheltenham on day 2, and, to make things even better for the fans, they eliminated Middlesbrough in the EFL Cup on Wednesday evening. The two teams seem to be evenly matched at the moment; therefore, we believe that there is a big value in betting on draw. There are no fresh injury worries in the away team.
Highlighted Player (Tom Lawrence):
Tom Lawrence is a Welsh footballer who plays as a winger for Championship side Derby County. Born in Wrexham (Wales) on January 13, 1994, Tom Lawrence played for Everton and Manchester United during his youth career.
The 180-cm-tall footballer, though, made no more than one appearances for the Red Devils in the Premier League as he was immediately sent on loan to Carlisle United. The Wales international played for the likes of Yeovil Town, Leicester City, Rotherham United, Blackburn Rovers, Cardiff City and Ipswich Town as well before signing a contract with Derby County. Tom Lawrence’s main position is left winger, but he is used as both second striker and right winger as well.
The Derby County man made his Wales debut in November 2015 in a 3-2 loss to Netherlands. The highlight of his career is the goal he scored against Georgia in the 2018 World Cup qualifiers. His preferred foot is right and he wears No. 10 jersey at Derby County.
Highlighted Team (Barnsley):
Barnsley are an English club nicknamed the Tykes. The club was founded in 1887 and it has to be noted that they spend more seasons in the Championship than any other club in the history. The Tykes played in the Sheffield and District League from 1890, but in 1895 they were part of the Midland League. Barnsley play their home games at Oakwell, the stadium that was built in 1887.
The capacity of the stadium is 23,009 and it was opened back in 1888, just one year after the club’s foundation. The Tykes made it to the FA Cup final in 1910, but Newcastle United proved to be a big catch for the Oakwell outfit in the title game.
Nonetheless, Barnsley won the FA cup trophy in 1912 and that is considered the club’s biggest success. Barnsley defeated West Bromwich Albion in the two-legged tie (0-0, 1-0) to clinch the prestigious trophy for the first and only time in their history.
