Our prediction for this League 1 match:
Exeter City host Birmingham City at St James Park on Tuesday in what promises to be an interesting League One game. The Grecians are currently on a two-match winless run in League One, following a 3-0 defeat to Wrexham and a goalless draw against Lincoln. Gary Caldwell’s troops have struggled to replicate their early-season form, with just one win in their last five league games, but the good news for the hosts is that Ryan Woods is back from suspension.
Birmingham, considered as one of the promotion favorites, are also seeking a return to winning ways. After a splendid start to the campaign, Chris Davies's men suffered a dip in form, failing to win in their last three league games, including a disappointing 3-2 defeat at Shrewsbury. Despite these setbacks, Birmingham’s firepower and defensive solidity for much of the season make them hot favourites to win the midweek clash. Even though all Emil Hansson Scott Wright, and Lee Buchanan miss out for the visiting side, we are tempted to bet on the Blues, who are determined to return to the Championship.
Highlighted Team (Birmingham City):
Birmingham City are a club located in the city of Birmingham, England. Birmingham City were founded in 1875 as Small Heath Alliance, but the club’s named was changed to Small Heath in 1888. 17 years later they became Birmingham and in 1943 they finally changed their name to Birmingham City.
The Blues welcome their rivals at St. Andrew’s, the stadium that was opened in 1906. Birmingham City compete in the Championship and their fiercest rivals are WBA and Aston Villa. The Blues made it to the FA Cup final twice, but they have yet to win the prestigious trophy. In 1931 they were beaten by their local rivals WBA in the title game (1-2), whilst in 1956 they were outplayed by Manchester City in the title game.
The colour of Birmingham’s home kit is blue with white stripe. Trevor Francis, Gil Merrick, Bob Latchford, Jeff Hall, Alex Govan, Joe Bradford and Christophe Dugarry are notable footballers who played for the St. Andrew’s outfit in the past.
