Our prediction for this League 1 match:
Tuesday’s football game at St James Park pits together Exeter and Wycombe, the two teams who meet in the League One for the first time since March 2012. Back then Wycombe outplayed Exeter 3-1 on the road, but a close match is on the cards this time out. The newcomers are eyeing their second win of the season, and the fact that they crushed Port Vale 4-0 at home is certainly giving fans a reason for optimism.
Matt Taylor should have a full squad to choose from for the midweek clash. The Chairboys, on the other hand, aim to bounce back from a 2-1 loss to Shrewsbury Town. Wycombe are not regarded as good travellers, and given their shaky defence, we believe that punters from all around the globe can find value in betting on the Grecians. Experienced attacker Sam Vokes should continue to lead the line for the visiting side.
Highlighted Player (Nicky Ajose):
Nicky Ajose is an English footballer who started his youth career at Manchester United. Despite signing a professional deal with the Red Devils, Ajose did not see any game action for the English giants at the senior level. After spending the 2010/2011 season on loan at Bury, the 168-cm tall forward signed a contract with Peterborough United in the summer of 2011.
Nicky Ajose played for the likes of Scunthorpe United, Chesterfield, Crawley Town, Bury, and Swindon Town on loan before joining Leeds United on a three-year deal in August 2014. However, the English striker made no more than three league appearances for the Whites before signing a loan deal with Crewe Alexandra. In September 2015, he returned to Swindon Town, signing a three-year contract with the Robins.
Nicky Ajose played for the likes of Charlton Athletic, Bury (loan), and Mansfield (loan) before moving to his current club Exeter City. The Grecians attacker was born in Bury, England, on October 7, 1991, and his preferred foot is right.
Highlighted Team (Wycombe):
Founded back in 1887, Wycombe Wanderers are one of the oldest clubs in the League One. The Chairboys are well known for their sky blue and dark blue shirts, but the colour of their away kit is orange combined with gun-metal gray.
Wycombe Wanderers host their rivals at Adams Park, a small stadium in Sands Industrial Estate which can hold up to 10,137 people. Milton Keynes Dons are seen as the club’s main rivals, with the two teams facing each other in the Buckinghamshire derby. Wycombe Wanderers made it to the FA Cup semis in the 2000/2001, with the team repeating the success in the League Cup six seasons later.
It has to be noted that the Chairboys have two FA Trophy titles (1991, 1993). Legendary midfielder Gareth Ainsworth is considered one of the club’s most famous players. Ainsworth scored 16 goals in 112 league appearances for Wycombe Rovers.
