Our prediction for this League 1 match:
Buoyed by a 2-0 win over Barnsley, Huddersfield Town will be aiming to give fans yet another reason to celebrate when they face Bristol Rovers at John Smith’s Stadium. The Terriers are after their fourth home win of the process and they are seen as hot favourites to pick up all three points from Saturday’s clash. Bearing fresh injury worries, Michael Duff is unlikely to make changes to the team that defeated the Tykes in their last league match.
The Pirates, on the other hand, suffered a heavy 4-0 loss to Swindon in the EFL Trophy clash, and given Huddersfield’s fine home record, we predict that Matt Taylor’s men are going to return home empty-handed. In their last meeting in the English third tier Huddersfield Town defeated Bristol Rovers 1-0 and we predict that history is going to repeat itself. Shaqai Forde is pushing for recalls to the starting XI, speaking of the away team.
Highlighted Team (Huddersfield):
Back in 1926 Huddersfield Town became the first English club to win three straight domestic trophies. Since 1908 the Terriers were playing at Leeds Road, but in 1994 John Smith’s Stadium became home of Huddersfield Town. The club play in the English second tier (Championship) and the colour of the their home kit is blue and white (stripes).
Huddersfield Town were founded in 1910 and just three years later they entered the Football League. In 1926 the Terriers won their last domestic trophy, but they did well finishing runners up in the FA Cup 1920. The club’s biggest rivals are Leeds United and it has to be noted that Huddersfield Town have better head-to-head record of the two teams.
Bradford City are considered Huddersfield’s local rivals as well, but there are small rivalries with Barnsley, Halifax Town, Manchester City and Oldham Athletic. The club’s chairman is Dean Hoyle.
