Our prediction for this League 1 match:
Saturday’s football game at Portman Road pits together Ipswich Town and Burton Albion, the two teams who are vying for a spot in the League One playoffs. Following back-to-back wins over Gillingham and Doncaster, Ipswich shared the spoils with MK Dons in their last league match. The Tractor Boys aim to move closer to top six, but the game against Burton will be anything but a walk in the park for the home side.
Sam Morsy returned from suspension at the weekend, while all Hayden Coulson, Bailey Clements, and Jon Nolan have been struggling with injuries of late. The Brewers, on the other hand, impressed in a 3-1 win over Bolton. Burton Albion, though, have already suffered eight defeats on the road this season, which is probably the main reason why home win should be considered. Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink should have a full squad to choose from.
Highlighted Player (Lee Evans):
Lee Evans is a right-footed footballer who plays for Wigan Athletic in the Championship. Evans played for the likes of Malpas FC, Bristol Rovers and Newport County during his youth career and he continued playing for the Ironsides at senior level.
The 186-cm-tall midfielder then joined the Wolves, scoring 3 goals in 59 appearances for the club in the league. After ending his loan spells with Bradford City and Wigan Athletic, the Wales international moved to Sheffield United in the winter of 2018 for an undisclosed fee. However, at the end of the 2017/2018 season he returned to Wigan Athletic (loan).
After making 21 appearances for the club, Lee Evans signed a permanent deal with the Latics on January 1, 2019. Speaking of his international career, the Wigan Athletic midfielder made his Wales debut on November 14, 2017 in a 1-1 draw with Panama. His main position is central midfield, but he is used as a defensive midfielder as well.
Highlighted Team (Burton):
Burton Albion are one of the four clubs that secure promotion to the Championship at the end of the 2015/2016 campaign. The Brewers welcome their rivals at Pirelli Stadium, the venue that was opened in 2005. The capacity of the stadium is 6,912, while the seating capacity of the venue is 2,034.
Burton Albion won the FA Trophy in 1987, with the team winning Football League Two in 2015. During the club’s non-League period, the Brewers’ local rivals were Nuneaton Borough, Tamworth, Stafford Rangers and Gresley Rovers, but while they were playing in the Football League the club’s rivals were Crewe, Port Vale, Notts County and Chesterfield.
Derby County are considered Burton Albion’s rivals as well, but the rivalry with the Rams is rather friendly. The colour of Burton Albion’s home kit is black and yellow, while they wear white and grey jerseys on the travels.
