Our prediction for this League 1 match:
Peterborough play host to Wigan Athletic at their Weston Homes Stadium in what is expected to be an interesting League One game. The Posh aim to recover from a heavy 5-1 loss to Lincoln and they are likely to fight tooth and nail against the Latics. Emmanuel Fernandez limped off with injury in the last league match, with Jadel Katongo likely to step up. There are no other selection worries in the home team.
Wigan Athletic, meanwhile, aim to build on a 2-0 victory over Bristol Rovers. The Latics are stuck in the middle of the table with slim playoffs chances. The Latics, though, have been producing fine performances on the road of late, which is probably the main reason why away win should be considered. Bearing any fresh injury worries, Wigan boss Shaun Maloney is unlikely to make changes to the team that defeated the Pirates at the weekend.
Highlighted Team (Peterborough):
Founded in 1934, Peterborough United are a professional club that competes in the League One. The Posh play their home games at London Road Stadium, the venue with the capacity of 15,314. Peterborough’s home colour is blue, whilst the colour of their away kit is blue. The Posh have the third kit as well where yellow and black are the dominant colours.
Peterborough United’s biggest success came in the 1964/1965 when the club booked their place in the FA Cup quarter-finals. Chelsea, though, proved to be a big catch for the Posh, beating them 5-1 in London. It has to be noted that Peterborough United made it to the Football League Cup semis in the 1965/1966 season, with the team losing to WBA in the two-legged tie.
The likes of Cambridge United and Northampton Town are considered the club’s main rivals. The Posh have built a rivalry with Huddersfield Town, with fans seeing MK Dons as rivals as well.
