Our prediction for this League 1 match:
Following a hard-fought 1-0 win over Wycombe, Stevenage will look to climb to the playoffs berth when they face Cambridge United in a postponed League One fixture. The Boro did well to put an end to their four-game winless run at the weekend and they are seen as hot favourites to win Tuesday’s clash as well. Barring any fresh injury worries, Steve Evans is unlikely to make changes to the team that defeated the Chairboys.
The U’s, on the other hand, failed to impress in back-to-back defeats to Bolton and Peterborough, which is probably the main reason why we are going to bet on the home team. You should know that Stevenage emerged triumphant in each of the previous five meetings with Cambridge United. As for the away team, defender Liam Bennett is widely expected to return to the starting line-up after coming as a substitute in the last league match.
Highlighted Player (Jake Taylor):
Jake Taylor is a product of the Reading football academy who plays for Exeter City in the League Two. Taylor spent his youth career at Reading, and he continued wearing the blue and white shirt at senior level.
After scoring two goals in 31 appearances with the Royals in the league, the English footballer spent several seasons on loan at the likes of Aldershot Town, Exeter City, Cheltenham Town, Crawley Town, Leyton Orient, and Motherwell. In 2016 Jake Taylor returned to Exeter City, signing a permanent deal with the St James Park outfit.
Despite being born in Ascot, England, on December 1, 1991, Taylor represents Wales on the international stage. He has ten caps with the Wales U21 team, and he made his debut with the Dragons at the senior level in a 2-1 win over Cyprus on October 13, 2014. His primary position is central midfielder.
Highlighted Team (Cambridge United):
Cambridge United are an English football club that compete in League Two. The U’s play their home games at Abbey Stadium, the venue which was built back in 1923. Owned by Grosvenor Estates, Cambridge United’s home ground can hold up to 8,127 spectators.
The U’s wear amber and black jerseys and black shorts when playing in front of home fans, while white and blue are the dominant colours of their away kit. Cambridge United won the FA Trophy in 2014, with the team making it to the FA Cup quarter-finals two times (1989/90, 1990/91). In the 1968-69 season, the U’s clinched the Southern League Cup title.
Cambridge United recorded their biggest league win in March 2007 as they outclassed Weymouth 7-0, and they repeated the success against Forest Green (2009) and Morecambe (2016). Peterborough United are regarded as the club’s main rivals, but they maintain rivalries with Northampton Town, Colchester United, Luton Town, Stevenage, and Histon as well.
