Our prediction for this League 1 match:
Wigan Athletic and Stockport County face each other at DW Stadium in what is expected to be a close League One clash. The Latics are still tough to beat in front of home fans, and they will be eager to build on their solid start to the campaign. Shaun Maloney’s side, however, are not at full strength, with James Mabaya, Scott Adams, Charlie Hughes-Miller, and Chris Sze all in the recovery room.
Stockport, on the other hand, will be highly motivated to get their revenge following a narrow 1-0 defeat to Wigan in the EFL Cup last 64 on Tuesday. Dave Challinor’s men have shown good organization and discipline, and with no fresh injury concerns, he is expected to field his strongest possible line-up. Recent history suggests a close encounter, as under 2.5 goals have been netted in each of the last five meetings between the two clubs in all competitions. Taking everything into account, we believe that there is a big value in betting on draw.
Highlighted Team (Wigan):

Wigan Athletic are one of the winners of the English FA Cup. The Latics won the prestigious trophy in 2013, with the team upsetting Manchester City in the title game. This is considered the club’s biggest success, but it has to be noted that Wigan played in the UEFA Europa League in the 2013/2014 season.
Wigan have been playing their home games at the DW Stadium since 1999 and they had played at Springfield Park in the past. Chorley are considered Wigan’s fierce rivals, but the two teams last met in 1971, when they competed in the Northern Premier League. The likes of Preston North End, Bury, Oldham Athletic, Burnley and Blackburn Rovers are regarded as Wigan Athletic’s rivals as well.
The club was founded in 1932 and they competed in the English Premier League from 2005 to 2013. The colour of Wigan’s home kit is blue and white (stripes).
