Our prediction for this League 2 match:
Accrington Town and AFC Wimbledon take on each other at the Wham Stadium in what is expected to be a close League Two encounter. The Accy Stanley aim to bounce back from a 2-1 loss to MK Dons and they are likely to fight tooth and nail against the Dons. Defender Jay Rich-Baghuelou limped off with injury in the last league fixture, with Aaron Pickles likely to step up.
AFC Wimbledon, on the other hand, proved their worth in a 2-0 win over Barrow. The Dons have a chance to climb to the playoffs places and given Accrington’s poor performance against Mike Williamson’s troops, away triumph should definitely be considered. There are no fresh injury worries in the away team ahead of the trip to Lancashire. In their last meeting in the English fourth tier Accrington defeated AFC Wimbledon 4-2, which is yet another reason why we are going to bet on the away side.
Highlighted Team (Accrington):
Founded back in 1891 and reformed in 1968, Accrington Stanley are an English football club that compete in the League One. The original team competed in the Football League from 1921 to 1962, spending the last four seasons in Lancashire Combination.
The Accy are well known for their red home kit, whilst they wear sky blue shirts and white shorts when playing on the travels. The League One side play their home games at Crown Ground, the stadium which can hold up to 5,450 spectators (3,100 seated). Accrington have been playing at Crown Ground since 1970.
Listed as the all-time favourite player amongst fans, Chris Grimshaw is one of the most famous Accrington Stanley footballers. However, George Stewart is the team’s top scorer, netting 136 goals in total from 1954 to 1958. It has to be noted that the Accy have yet to represent England in European competitions.
