Our prediction for this League 2 match:
The Wham Stadium will host Saturday’s football game between Accrington Town and Tranmere Rovers, the two mid-table sides. The Accy Stanley have been struggling in the season finale, with the team losing each of their last three league matches, but they will surely give 100% to finish the campaign in style. Talented midfielder Dan Martin is pushing for a start as well as Benjamin Woods.
The Rovers, on the other hand, aim to build on back-to-back wins over Newport County and AFC Wimbledon. As Tranmere want to give fans some cheer on the last day of the season as well, we are tempted to put our money on both teams to score. Luke Norris should keep his place in Tranmere’s starting XI after providing two assists for his teammates against the Dons, with Connor Jennings partnering up front in the 4-4-2 formation.
Highlighted Team (Accrington):
Founded back in 1891 and reformed in 1968, Accrington Stanley are an English football club that compete in the League One. The original team competed in the Football League from 1921 to 1962, spending the last four seasons in Lancashire Combination.
The Accy are well known for their red home kit, whilst they wear sky blue shirts and white shorts when playing on the travels. The League One side play their home games at Crown Ground, the stadium which can hold up to 5,450 spectators (3,100 seated). Accrington have been playing at Crown Ground since 1970.
Listed as the all-time favourite player amongst fans, Chris Grimshaw is one of the most famous Accrington Stanley footballers. However, George Stewart is the team’s top scorer, netting 136 goals in total from 1954 to 1958. It has to be noted that the Accy have yet to represent England in European competitions.
