Our prediction for this League 2 match:
After failing to win the last four league matches, Grimsby Town will look to escape the danger zone when they take on Notts County on Saturday afternoon. The Black and Whites, though, will be without suspended defender Denver Hume this time out, while goalkeeper Harvey Cartwright should miss out with injury. Fellow shot-stopper Jake Eastwood is ready to step up.
The Exiles, on the other hand, suffered a dip in form, with the team extending their losing run to three games against Crawley (0-4). Since the out-of-sorts visitors have slim playoffs chances, we are tempted to bet on the relegation-threatened hosts this time out. To make things even worse for the visiting side, important defender Scott Bennett suffered an injury in Monday’s defeat. Fellow defender Harrison Bright is likely to replace the 33-year-old in the starting line-up. You should know that under 2.5 goals have been netted in each of the previous five meetings between the two sides in all competitions.
Highlighted Player (James Clark ):
Born in Berlin, Germany, James Clark is an experienced defender who plays for Walsall in the League Two. After spending his youth career at Watford, Clark played for the likes of Oxford United, Oxford City, Salisbury City, Woking, and Bristol Rovers before joining Walsall on a two-year deal.
The defender, who wears the No. 5 jersey at Walsall, has a contract with the Saddlers which should expire in June 2021. His primary position is centre-back, but he is capable of producing fine displays as a right-back as well. His preferred foot is right. James Clark made his League Two debut with Walsall on August 3, 2019 in a 1-0 win over Northampton Town.
He scored his first goal for the Saddlers in the Northampton Town clash as well, helping the team pick up all three points from the PTS Academy Stadium clash. Clark scored his first professional goal during his spell with Bristol Rovers. He found the net in a 2-1 win over Wycombe at the start of the 2018/19 season.
Highlighted Team (Grimsby):
Founded back in 1878 as Grimsby Pelham, Grimsby Town are a professional football club that compete in League Two, the English fourth tier. Grimsby Town welcome their opponents at Blundell Park, the stadium which has the capacity of 9,027 people (all seated).
The Pilgrims are well known for their black jerseys with white stripes, whilst blue is the dominant colour of their away kit. Grimsby Town made it to the FA Trophy final on two occasions (2012/13, 2015/16), but they have yet to win the title in the competition. The likes of Hull City and Scunthorpe United are regarded as the club’s main rivals.
The Pilgrims registered their biggest win on September 4, 1925, as they crushed Tranmere Rovers 8-0. Speaking of their heaviest loss, Grimsby Town were beaten by Arsenal 9-1 on January 28, 1931.
