Our prediction for this League 2 match:
Buoyed by a thrilling 2-1 win over league leaders Mansfield Town, MK Dons will look to climb to top three when they face Salford City on Saturday afternoon. The Dons quickly bounced back from a 1-0 loss to AFC Wimbledon, but they need to keep on making progress in the remainder of the season if they are to secure automatic promotion to the League One. Talented forward Matthew Dennis should keep his place up front as a lone centre-forward after the 21-year-old found the net in the midweek triumph.
The Lions, on the other hand, head into the season finale with the lack of motivation as they are 13 points clear of the relegation zone. Given MK Dons’ fine performance in the victory over Mansfield, home win should definitely be considered. Forward Callum Morton is widely expected to return to Salford’s starting XI as boss Karl Robinson should opt to make changes to the team that suffered the 2-0 loss to Gillingham.
Highlighted Player (Conor McAleny):
Conor McAleny is a product of Everton youth academy, joining the club from Merseyside in 2003 at the age of 11. Despite the fact that his main position is centre-forward, McAleny is used as both second striker and left winger as well. McAleny did spend his youth career at Goodison Park, but it has to be noted that he made no more than two appearances for the Toffees at senior level.
The English attacker, who was born in Whiston on August 12, 1992, made his first-team debut in a 1-0 Premier League loss to Arsenal on December, 2011. Conor McAleny played for the likes of Scunthorpe United, Brentford, Cardiff City, Charlton Athletic, Wigan Athletic and Oxford United before signing a deal with Fleetwood Town.
The right-footed striker spent the second half of the 2018/2019 season on loan at Kilmarnock, scoring 3 goals in 11 appearances for the club in the Scottish Premier League.
Highlighted Team (MK Dons):
Based in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, Milton Keynes Dons are a League One club that welcome their rivals at Stadium MK. The venue was opened in 2007 and can hold up to 30,500 spectators. Milton Keynes Dons play their home games in white shirts and white shorts, whilst their away kit is red.
The Dons are one of the youngest clubs in England as they were founded in 2004, but they are well known for youth development. English attacker is the club’s all-time top goal-scorer, netting 62 goals in 165 appearances for MK Dons. Dele Alli, who currently plays for Tottenham Hotspur, is the most famous footballer to have played for the Milton Keynes Dons, netting 18 goals in 62 appearances for the club in the league.
Speaking of notable coaches, it has to be noted that former Liverpool superstar Robbie Fowler and ex German international Dietmar Hamman were in charge of the club.
